Prometheus in Fifteen Minutes

You know what? I saw this movie twice, and I saw it in 3D both times (side note: the 3D is really well done; it's actually comfortable to watch), and I loved it, and I would go see it again right now. But... let's put it this way: this was really fun and relatively easy to write. Still working on something for The Avengers, which, given that I tend ( Read more... )

I take it the Chance & Ravel scene is filed under "this didn't actually happen in the movie, but HAD to have happened at some point," right? :)

(Hah! I'm 100% not ever going to watch this movie, ewww, but this m15m is a hoot.)

They do actually bet on whether the purpose of the trip had something to do with terraforming, and Ravel's last line before the ship blows up is something like, "Pay me on the other side." So, some form of betting DID happen.

That is too perfect. That's like, metahumor on a whole other level. "Look, this is genre fiction, and everybody knows I did Alien/Aliens and expects it to be Alien/Aliens, and it's a ship going off into the wild unknown, so they know people are gonna die, Why not acknowledge it?"

It's especially funny in light of the fact that I know people who claimed to have made personal bets on fictional characters' likelihood of survival. Including somebody who (SPOILER ALERT FOR END OF HARRY POTTER #6)

totally made like 100 British pounds off the fact that "Dumbledore dies and Snape goes evil", though in hindsight, he should have only won one of those. :P

(END SPOILER)

So yeah. That actually makes me want to see this movie more, bits like that. I'm all over the "meta". ;)

Typically I can't handle horror movies at all and this was fine. I find the Alien(s) movies much worse, actually, even after seeing them several times; somehow, this one was just Sciency-fail with pretty effects and some tentacles.

YMMV, of course!

Oh, it did make eating the Red Vines more fun, though. Tasty tentacles to nom!

Oh, Holloway. YOURS WAS THE GREATEST STUPID OF ALL. *wipes tear*

Well, except for that Millburn. Seriously, Millburn. SERIOUSLY. WTF.

No, I actually think being mean to the smartest and most heartless being in the room outstupids the "scientist" who touches the alien penivagina snake thing. BUT JUST BARELY.

But seriously, what exobiologist worth their salt gets their brave on with the LIVE ALIEN and not the DEAD one?! I was so upset with him. SO. UPSET.

The only problem now is that when I do watch the movie, I'll be constantly giggling throughout.

Thank you.
