I know! I was surprised at how well they turned out too! Mind you, I'm not sure that they taste quite as great as they look (my brother and sister really liked them though) and I'm not a big fan of the fondant taste.
=) Anyway, I'm so glad you liked them =) Thanks for commenting
Ive never used fondant either, but I really wanted to have a cupcake cake for my wedding this summer and I was thinking of doing it all myself and decorating the tops with fondant so they would be fancy... Yours look AMAZING and make me want to go through with this... But how long did they all take you? I have a feeling the idea isnt so realistic if its going to take me the entire month of july to make the fondant tops haha.
To be honest, the majority of the time spent was getting used to working with the fondant....once you get the initial hang of it, it works out quite well. In particular- t took me a bit to realize how to pull the fondant so that I wouldn't have to cut it when fitting it around the cakes.
I suppose it would depend how complicated you're planning to make it and how many guests you have...I made about 40 in one night this time, and it's my first time working with fondant so I was quite please (there was a lot of initial frustration)
If you're planning on having just the tops of your cupcakes covered, I'd argue that you could pull it off fairly easily, but if you're planning to flip them upside down like I did and making them in to 'mini cakes' then I'd probably try practicing a few times first.
Otherwise, I think it's a great idea! I'm still a newbie at it, but if you have any other questions, just ask =)
It was SO GOOD. I read that fondant is supposed to taste terrible but that stuff was like sugary crack to me. Geez it left me wanting more like a man whore....
What.
I think lemon tea makes me a lil excited. I apologize if that was NC17 info.
