no choice but to sit and wait

Well isn't that just ducky. The two crucial software programs I use at work are non-functional and/or suddenly nonexistant on my computer. Just mine. So I'm waiting for the IT monkeys to come by and fix me. I kinda suspect that they're jumping the gun on my departure and dismantling my computer profile now. I had weird problems yesterday as ( Read more... )

1) What is your job? What are some of your daily tasks?

I'm a Quality Assurance Associate for a social networking website (basically a dot com, but we got bought out by a marketing company a few years back so we're no longer a start-up.)

Basically I break web pages for a living. My daily tasks include:
(a) I test for bugs in the code that the developers have written, basically by using the website and seeing that it works.
(b) I dream up ways features could possibly break before they're actually written, to help the developers foresee and avoid problems when they go to write the code.
(c) I play around on the site monitoring for, and I'm quoting my manager on this one, "crappy user experience."

2) How did you get this job? How did you first gain entry into your company or organization?

I was recommended for the position by my friend locke61dv, and after a series of interviews I started work here 3.5 weeks ago ( ... )

1) What is your job? What are some of your daily tasks? I have a lot of jobs, but I'll go with the one that pays the bills: graduate teaching assistant for the department of biology at montclair state university. my daily tasks are teaching lab classes for freshman and sophomores, grading papers and quizzes, making PPTs, etc.

2) How did you get this job? How did you first gain entry into your company or organization? I said I would like to be considered on my application to grad school, got interviewed and accepted.

3) Do you like your job? Love it.. couldn't be happier except with mroe $$$ and total control of classes as opposed to just labs.

4) What is your dream job? professor. getting there.

Social worker? Counselor? Consultant?

Those professions seem to match your ability to be an outside observer...

They would. Social worker might be too tough. I've considered counselor, because people like to come to me for advice, but I dunno. It's really, really hard. Consultant sounds very appealing, but I have to be well-versed in some field first.
