I have always absolutely loved that place. The lobster ravioli is my favorite, and the bellinis are perfect with brunch, which I also highly recommend. With dinner I usually prefer a cappuccino martini. Yeah, I miss that place.
It's not exactly NEAR me anymore. No take out for me. And Hal & I don't exactly eat out on the regular so it would have to be a preplanned thing, and that just doesn't happen.
i've liked that place everytime i go there, too! i'm a big fan of the house dressing. any idea where you'll be reviewing next? you're like the craig laban of LJ! :)
I don't think I've been there since they stopped serving brunch on Sundays. Definitely a solid Italian place, even without Brian working there.
Current music: the Plotter I love plotters. They're pretty much my favorite piece of old-school lab equipment, aside from the old round oscilloscopes that look like they came off the set of a 1950s B movie. And we only have the tiny little ones for plugging into test equipment (from back when nobody had PCs in the lab), I'm sure you guys have much cooler drafting ones.
Yeh. It's about 4 feet long, made by HP, and is an ink-jet type printer. There are much cooler electrostatic plotters available that are supposed to have your large scale print job done by the time you get up from your chair and walk to the plotter. But they are expensive. Most companies like ours have these HP's. It's cool. I really wish we had a large scale scanner/copier. That would be a great toy.
Wait... so it's actually a PRINTER? It doesn't have a little 2.5-degrees-of-freedom mechanical arm that grabs the little plotter pen and draws your shit for you??
no sorry. They used to and I guess that why they are still nicknamed plotters. I guess the technical name is "Large Scale Printer". Sorry for dissapointing you.
Not that it's in the same league as Tuscan tavern, but Hal & I ate at Olga's on 70/73 last night while we were out shopping. We each got full platters that included soup and a salad bar. Hal got a HUGE platter of meatloaf with two sides, and I got some of the most fantastic manicotti and meatballs that I've ever had. The meatballs were baked parm style right on top of the manicotti making for a wonderful dish. He had soda, I had a never-ending pot o' joe, I finished it up with an eclair at the end, and it all came to $24.24. I felt like I had to advertise a bit for them because they were absolutely dead last night, which meant we got excellent service, but I felt bad. I don't think I've ever had a better diner experience. I think the treacherous circle is really killing business for them.
Thanks for the review. I have eaten there but I don't remember any details. I'm sure they do most of their business during lunch. There are tons of businesses and shopping there that probably attract diners to them. I'm pretty sure weeknights are dead in most restaurants.
But don't feel bad. It could be worse. They could be on the Berlin circle. Ouch. Actually there is a diner there too. :)
I've been to the Pallas diner (Berlin circle) recently as well. My girlfriend came up from VA for a short visit, and we had brunch there. I had a really good breakfast sandwich, and there was a clown that walked around the diner entertaining little kids and making balloon animals all through breakfast. It was crazy!

A) Live that far from the place
or
B) Aren't within a mile of it (508/The Manse) at least once a week
You Funny, Gina... You Funny!
As for the food, I got the take out portion of this journey and had me some Chicken Parm with a side of Fet Alfedo. DELICIOUS IS WHAT IT WAS!
