Project Start Date: 4/2/10
Planned Finish Date: 4/3/10
Actual Finish Date: 4/4/10 At 2 am
Did you make changes from original plan? No, not really, but when I was done, I noted some things I needed to change
Did you discover something you want to share? Don't ever use older elastic! I had to change the waistband from being elastic to being drawstring because my elastic was broken down!
How happy are you with the result? 95% I got a lot of great comments on my petti, and it did exactly what I needed it to do, but there were a few problems with the elastic and my waist-hip measurement was a bit off. Something to Remember

Project Title: Sweet Lucy OP
Short Project Description: I'm making a dress for my Choir's May concert. The concert theme is Beatlemania and I am preparing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" as a solo. I'm aiming for a dress that will kind of showcase the song and embody the beatles as well :)
The blouse is going to have a square neckline, somewhat puffy sleeves, a partially shirred back a V-shaped insert down the middle front, a row of non-functional buttons, and a tied bow in the back. The skirt will have two bias, scalloped layers in the front in opposing directions, and several ruffled layers peaking out beneath the scalloped layers. There will also be detachable, sparkly chiffon/chiffon-like material sleeves that are particularly for the show, not so much for actual Lolita wear. Bloomers may also become a part of the ensemble... but that's a maybe.
Projected Deadline: The day before the Concert. (I'm not sure of the exact date, but I know it's a little over 2 weeks away)
Pattern(s) Used: None, unless I find a pattern for the top part of the dress
Materials needed: 1) Patterned cotton cloth, 2) A solid colored coordinate color cotton, 3) White lining fabric (possible), 4) Matching thread, needles, 4) Sewing machine (le duh), 5) Sparkly chiffon or a similar material.
Challenges or obstacles : I've never made a dress before, I've never shirred, and there's just a lot of stuff going on with this dress. It's going to be interesting.
This dress may end up being a three piece ensemble though... The bodice, a high-waisted scalloped bustle skirt and a ruffle skirt. If that happens, you'll know ;)
