Condos and author visits

Aug 06, 2007 09:34

I had a Daytona Beach condo in mind for my 9-day vacation that's coming up (16 days!) but something was nagging me about it. It didn't feel right. So now I'm going to wait until the last minute to call the other places that looked promising and hopefully get a deal on one that isn't booked. Would waiting until the weekend before when my first day ( Read more... )

Yay! I'm so excited it worked out.

Did you read the book? And you can have a list of questions to ask in case no one else opens their mouths. I wish I could be there. Why on a Thursday? Why??

I'm reading it right now. Hope I finish it in time! Why do the names have to be so hard to pronounce? Is that a requirement of fantasy writing?? And I will have a list of questions ready. You've read the book...any you'd ask? ;)

The kids are still out of school, so weekdays are good for scheduling events for them. On weekends the family as a whole is usually out of town doing things other than coming to the library.

Tracy A. Akers. She wrote The Fire and the Light, which won the Florida Book Awards Bronze Medal for young adult literature. www.soulsofaredyrah.com

Ooo that's pretty neat! :-)

I'm sure it will go swimmingly. Don't worry! *smile* She's used to talking with groups of teens, i'm sure.

As for the vacation, good thinking to not book a place that made you feel uncomfortable. I think you'll probably be ok booking a place last minute, but I don't really know much about it. You could always change destinations if it comes down to it.

I have no idea on condo reservations, sad to say. You may be able to ask Kat about timeshare stuff though. She may know some things that would help.

I hope the visit does go well. Maybe you can figure out some leading questions for you to ask that might get a discussion going?

I'm under the impression that's it a short-short term lease. The guy I decided not to go with emailed me a rental contract that looked like an extremely watered down version of what I signed for my permanent digs.

I'm hoping I can do that. The problem is that the kids only recently jumped on the preparation bandwagon and as a consequence, most haven't read the book. They'll be unable to ask specific questions about the story. Perhaps I should have ordered more than 2 copies for the library...

I did too, but the cost of a plane ticket to UK was prohibitive. What's with this almost $200 surcharge added onto each ticket??

p.s. You should have an invitation to join the online bookclub waiting for you somewhere on LJ.
