Dreams like these can be so upsetting. I don't understand why people have them, either; they seem so useless: there is nothing we can do about the events foretold (or their sequellae).

I have had three of these dreams in my life (that I know were related to events that happened the next day/within an hour or so). They left me feeling torn apart and very confused. On the other hand, they also left me deeply in touch with the feelings of the people who suffered.

There is so much pain and violence in the world - and the news - that we tend to grow callous; perhaps such dreams help us to retain the ability to feel empathy and connection with the suffereings of humans outside our own identity groups/communities?
