The good and the not as awesome

We just moved into our new place in Vancouver.. not Canada.. its in Washington, just on the other side of the state line. I have heard it described as the sleepy town on the other side of the hustle and bustle of Portland. So really, its a lot like Vancouver is the Northshore and Portland is New Orleans. I think it is necessary that I tell you that there is an IKEA in the Portland area. While I know that you and Louis are minimalists, IKEA has some fun cheap stuff. I bet they have laps too!

Your first impression of Portland is kind of how I've imagined it to be. That's disappointing to hear, but I'll be interested to see if it grows on you.

I also imagine getting the same feeling I got from Amsterdam, with bikes and people all around and cute little places to explore, but no real wow factor.

Actually people in the Northeast and like Michigan and places like that are the notoriously not nice people.

You're on the "west coast" not "the north" if that makes any sense.

It makes sense, but some people have commented to me that they did not find people very friendly in Portland. Although, considering my source, I should have anticipated the faulty intel.
