No way would Palin allow a picture like this to be taken or if it *was* real* she wouldn't stay silent about it's circulation. She'd address it one way or another, just like she has for all the other issues that surfaced about her.

The image is funny to the extent that it plays on something specific to Palin:

Exactly. This is how I feel Republicans like to see their women (goofy, trying to be sexy, gun-rights-lovin' and all that.) She is a symbol, not a serious candidate with political knowledge or substantial goals.

I've heard a lot of drippy accolades about her "beautiful" family but none of those common people mentioned her politics. They're captivated only by the photo images that Repubs are presenting.

Simplistic imagery worked in getting Bush elected, persuading people to buy oversize vehicles, mortgage their homes and a host of crazy behaviors. Karl Rove will tell ya "Stick with the tactics that work." Apparently that's exactly what the Repubs are doing.

McCain WAS a respectable candidate up until Bush was elected. He'd swapped his wife in on a newer model with less damage and more money, but that's normal Republican behaviour. But in the eight years since then, he's had to suck up to "the base" and sold his sole to the Bush forces. Thus the 90 - 95% voting record with the party establishment. At that level of conformity, you've sold the "Maverick" soul

As I understand it George W Bush also shoots from the hip. Must be a Republican standard for their candidates.
