News from my Ex

Feb 16, 2009 21:00

I got a series of text messages from Michiel yesterday. He hoped I had had a good Valentine's day and that he has two 30 year old girlfriends but they're not as good as me.

And the sailboat sank.

I wonder what makes exes think that the one thing in the world you want after you've moved on and established a perfectly happy little set up is a reminder that they exist.

I couldn't have put it better myself. It's like they want to attach this little string to your wrist and tug on it now and then.

Interesting how he included having two girlfriends in the same line with "they're not as good as you."

It really really irks me that he sank the sailboat. I wonder what happened, but I'm guessing he was drinking when it happened.

I want to be friends first. If we make a good pair of friends, then why disappear afterwards?

The woman who I proposed to in 1984 stopped talking to me in 2003. My GF from 1992 just moved in with me over Christmas in 2008. If you've got a perfect little set-up, then you're not threatened by someone who didn't work out.

In my case it isn't feeling threatened. It's more like "You told me you didn't want me but now you keep telling me how much you miss me and wish things were like they used to be."

I feel he's toying with my emotions. Michiel did this even the first couple months after he left, asking me to come to Florida. Then he shifted it to "Come live with me and my new girlfriend" I can only imagine what kind of relationship he had in mind (rooster... hen house maybe)

I also think it's for his ego to say "I could still have her back" and I'm not playing that game.

Oh man, you so did the right thing when you turned your back on him.

Don't I know it! For the first time in years I'm living normally and without dodging around issues.
