previous incarnations. Ema is Peter's first female incarnation, and the most considerably more docile of them, at that. Peter, in all but two incarnations, has been a skeezy, sexist rapist. He almost always meets up with Peter's Wife and does something terrible to her after having a life full of romantic rejections; other common threads in these incarnations are being born outside the US (mostly Canada or Europe) and being involved with some kind of cooking or baking. Once she was a serial killer who baked his enemies into pastry crusts. Peter and his Wife, in a less despicable incarnation, even attempted a fleeting romance, which did not end well; the only other life he's had where he wasn't a sleaze was once in which he never even realized he was a tale.
instant karma! Ema might not be the most typical candidate for Jess's interest, but she's well looked out for, in any case. Jess makes sure people are a little easier on Ema and that she doesn't get too involved in wrongdoing and goings on, for which Ema offers pies and wide grins. [bramblesgaveway]
a long slow knife. Really has it in for Ema, in one way or another. If it's not by misleading her or teaching her naughty things to say to strangers as compliments, it's something else. The sabotage is endless, and Ema is completely clueless - and will keep on making a fool of herself unless someone else intervenes. [OPEN]

touch is love. They have a terribly embarrassing crush on poor Ema, who is clueless as a duck. She's sweet to everyone, so they think she returns the sentiment, which could be true or not, as she's quick to love but also slow to learn. It would help if this was a younger guy or someone close in age; also moderately tolerant of this bizarre girl's shenanigans. [OPEN]

oceanchild. A best friend for Ema to cling to - a solid factor in her life. Not necessarily someone to look out for her, but more likely someone who's similar to her (ie. innocent, sweet, a little overbearing at times) and doesn't mind the language barrier. [OPEN]

She'll be enthusiastic and point to everything and ask about the English words for spices and breads, and so on and so forth - most likely a food lover and someone she can pose questions to. absolution. Ema's a cheery person, but Shelley makes her feel absolutely terrible. Cookies, cakes, and constant stuttering of apologies are often the interaction between the two, with Shelley's disconcerted reactions, and Ema tries her best to emulate an air of complete remorse for Peter's actions. Theirs is a strange relationship, but somehow the two are separated just enough not to know how to act towards the other. [sellseashelley]
