Graze, Nostrano & Merchent are popular Foodie destinations (and rightly so!). AJ Bombers has unique burgers & toppings (peanut butter, among other things), plus you get to throw nutshells on the floor. Bluphies has an eclectic menu and I've never had anything there that wasn't delicious, I hear brunch there is good. Jolly Bob's (Carribean) Tex Tubs (Mexican) Swagat (Indian) Ians & Glass Nickel (Pizza) Ellas Deli (Kitsch)
Weary Traveler = the Bad Breath burger is the best burger in town Monty's Blue Plate Diner = best breakfast menu in town Himul Chuli = awesome Himalayan food on State Street Pizza Pit = a Madison original, has been around since I was a kid so my love for them may be due to +50% nostalgia
I'll be honest, I haven't sampled too much Chinese food around Madison. However, the beef ho fun (or however they spell it) at Hong Kong Cafe is among the best I've ever had. It's my dad's favorite dish so he gets it everywhere; we ate there when I first moved to town and he was very pleased with it. Dumpling Haus at Hilldale is yummy in general, though a little pricier than I expected (still reasonable, though). Hong Kong Wok (also at Hilldale) is okay but I haven't tried a lot of their range. Better than your standard American-Chinese takeout fare, but not particularly memorable from the one time I ate there. I think a lot of the Asian grad students eat there so it's probably pretty good. Soga on State St has shabu shabu/hot pot which is fun, but I haven't tried any of their other entrees. And Steepery has okay bubble tea (somewhat overpriced IMO) which sort of counts? I get the feeling their normal tea is better though (mm, almond chai latte).
