Back when I was drinking, and in a lucrative P.R. gig, I used to throw parties. One was going to be a St. Patrick's day bash, but due to a co-worker's wedding, it had to be shifted a few weekends. But, was I going let something like that mess with a good theme? No!
The details are kind of vague at this point (blame the aforementioned drinking) but one bit of decor that I whipped up was a few dozen paper mache rocks¹ (when living in a high-rise it is unadvised to have actual rocks sitting around which might be hurled through windows by drunks). These were all mottled grays (no, not those) with a reasonably-scaled arrow pinned to them saying "This is not a real rock." ... leaving the quivering booze-soaked brains of those in attendance to make the connection with appropriate decor for the holiday in question.
Sloshy fun was had by all.
¹(up until the world-ending move a few years back, I still had a couple of those sitting around my library, sort of my very own pet rocks)
