Who Dat? And Why Did All Those Men Have No Pants On?

Feb 07, 2010 23:34

How is it that a group of men I don't even know winning a football game I didn't even have any money on can make me feel so darn good? But I was dancing in my living room tonight! ^_^ No one can say the Saints can't play with the big boys. Sean Payton is a risky devil, but it paid off because the Saints team was all heart. The Colts are loaded ( Read more... )

Glad you liked the game. I had mixed feelings. I used to root for Johnny Unitas back in the 60's. The game resembled so many the Colts barely won this year. They may have talent, but Manning has had to carry most of the load for them this year without a running game or a real deep threat(no Marvin Harrison). It was painful watching him having to force balls to 2nd and 3rd receivers just to get first downs. In the end he got caught going to the little dunk to Reggie Wayne that had been producing first downs one time too many. I am not sure why people thought the Colts were overwhelming. They looked terrible in most of their wins.

Not sure what to make of the men without pants. I did like the commercials where the men were doing everything their wives asked them to do. Every man who is married or in a relationship can empathize with that.

I enjoyed the game so much, I wish I had taped it so I could watch it again. ^_^ Talking about mixed feelings, I used to root for Archie Manning back in the 70s. LOL! I was really nervous for the Saints going into the game because of all the hype about the Colts. I guess we tend to remember the wins and not necessarily the fact that seven of them were last-minute saves. And Payton Manning is just the Grande Dame of the game and no one expects him to be denied. I think when he threw that interception, his team fell apart. And from the minute the second half started, the Saints were just playing from the heart.

Men took a beating in several of the commercials. My favorite commercial was the Snickers one with Betty White and Abe Vigoda. The sad thing is, I had to explain to my sons who they were. ^_^

I got to watch Archie Manning at the end of his career when he was playing for the Vikings. There is something sad about players staying too long after their talents have eroded. Like watching on Johnny Unitas sitting on the Chargers bench and Joe Namath in an LA Rams uniform. It just looks wrong.

Speaking of funny. The Bret Favre commercial where he talked about retiring after the 2020 Super Bowl was hilarious.

Oh, yes! I loved the Brett Favre commercial, too. He really boosted my respect for him by being able to poke fun of himself like that.

It was a GREAT game. My hubby was going for the Colts but even he thought it was great that the Saints won. I like Peyton Manning, but did he seem off to you too?

And it helps the Drew Brees can now thumb his nose at the Charges. (not one of my favorite teams)

*I agree. To much underwear. I think the best commercial was the one featuring Betty White and Abe Vigoda. (I didn't even know he was still alive!)

I think the Colts may have bought into their own hype. They all seemed a bit stunned when the Saints got their feet under them and started really playing. Don't get me wrong--I am a huge fan of Peyton Manning--but, I think he may have received a wake-up call in that game. He always comes off as a very modest, unassuming guy, but I'm sure he knows how good he is, and I think he just thought he could carry the team to another win because he has done that several times this season. He just wasn't counting on the Saints to want it so bad.

I loved the commercial with Betty white, too! ^_^
