Hey hun! I just achieved (for the first time) the red tone I've ALWAYS wanted! I used Garnier Frutis (Red's for dark hair, it says on the box) R1 and then covered it with Manic Panic "Rock N Roll Red". I am NOT a big fan of Manic Panic because it fades soooo quickly. I do however love Punky Colour "Flame". Just ordered it and it's great. I redye every 2 weeks with the Manic Panic. The Punky Colour usually lasts up to a month. And it doesn't do damage either.

If you're going to go red I would highly recommend using a dry shampoo so you don't have to wash it as often- red usually fades like crazy! As quickly as it fades it is also hard to get out, so if you ever want to get back to your current color it will be a process. Red is hot though, I totally understand wanting it :D

I actually just did red and used SPLAT hairdye in luscious raspberry and it looks a lot like the color you posted- it's rad but stains like CRAZY so just be careful- I did it over medium brown hair and didn't have to use the included bleach to get to a vibrant red

Maybe it's too late and you've already dyed it by now but..

I had hair similar to Ga-in before.
I started out with bleached dark blonde hair, and dyed it a darker brown first so that the red dye wouldn't be too intense.
Then I dyed it I think with Garnier Nutrisse in "Cabernet"

I have recently colored my hair red, and it is almost exactly that color.
i went from a very light bleached blonde straight to red. I used herbal essence (i think?) in both cherry creme and raspberry creme, mostly because i needed two boxed of semi-permanent, and they only had one of each. it came out very very red and super shiney, but it fades like whoa.
i wash it about every third day, and the vibrant red only last 3 washes, so about 10 days. i use john frieda raidiant red shampoo/conditioner. whether or not it works, i dont know, it just makes me feel better about it.
if your worried, use semiperm color first, that way it will wash out quickly if youre not a fan. good luck!
