After a restful night at the house of J and R, we all four piled into their car and drove to Oxford, or rather to the Pear Tree carpark just outside, and caught the Park and Ride bus into the city. Park and Ride is a scheme to cut down on car use in the historic (and car unfriendly) centres of a number of British towns. After an excellent breakfast in the hotel bistro yesterday morning (although I still had to ask for cream with my porridge) we armed ourselves with one of the hotel umbreallas and walked out into a grey and soggy morning on our way to York Minster.

It took us a little while to get going yesterday morning due to some internet issues, but we eventually got underway and followed the signs to Hadrian's Wall and Birdoswald Roman Fort.

I woke up before MrM yesterday (not surprising, since he stayed up watching High School Musical after I went to bed), so I left him to sleep and went for a walk. Yesterday morning was grey and misty, which made MrM happy. We had breakfast in the dining room, looking out over Loch Linnhe and watching the gulls circling in the thermals above the water.

After justover 24 hours in transit we made it to Glasgow. Much to my surprise, it's a lovely sunny afternoon here. We checked into the hotel - bliss to stretch out finally, and then have a hot shower and get rid of the travel grime - and then walked across town to the cathedral. We're down to one week now, and getting closer to ready to leave, although I'm stressing a bit about all the dancing and singing commitments that are going to cut into my travel preparation time over the next week. Oh, and work. Mustn't forget that!

Two weeks from today Mr M and I will be in the departure lounge at Tullamarine, about to leave on our European adventure. So exciting!

And I'm typing this on the new baby laptop that we bought on the weekend to take with us. It's very cute, although the teeny tiny keys are going to take a bit of getting used to.
