I've been so unbelievably exhausted and stressed from trying to get through exams, putting in 2 days in a week for volunteer work as a student teacher to get into the con-ed program at York, working here and there, finishing up all my course readings and in between all of that, trying to finish this last entry! This past week's lecture was on "The Idea of Order at Key West" by Wallace Stevens and I thought that the guest speaker Jeremy Sharp did a great job on lecturing about it. T.S. Eliott's "The Wasteland" is one of the most complex poems ever written. It's also an excrutiatingly long read because every line in the poem contains either an allusion or has extreme significance to the work as a whole. It seems to fit under the second category of public poetry, which is about poetry that is publically acclaimed and favoured. This week in lecture, Professor Kuin mentioned that there are two meanings to the term "Public Poetry":

1) Poetry about matters that concern the public
2) Poetry that is publically acclaimed and favoured
