Sorry I took so long to comment, but I was looking thru alot of old entries and noticed something.

You said he wants you to be checked for fluid.

DO THIS! NAOW!!!!

When Mary shows signs of narcolepsy, I know its time for an ambulance. Because one of her shunts has failed, or clogged, and she's got fluid building up. Fluid buildup can absolutely cause narcolepsy. And many times, its a simple as draining the fluid to relieve the problem. Hell, having the winter flu can cause fluid buildup. So many simple things can cause it, yet its so dangerous. Even when fluid has stopped building up, its still a problem, because it has to be drained.

For centuries, people were diagnosed with "sleeping sickness" who actually had fluid buildup.

I know the problem with being claustrophobic is an issue. I have issues there too. Unfortunately, I'm going to say to just gut it out and get it done.

I just saw this. thanks for the input. I've not talked to very many people at all that know a lot about this, so any information is helpful. as soon as my sleep doctor returns to his office (this Friday) I'm going to call him to get the referral for the CAT scan.
