Travel Diary: Copper Harbor to Marquette
We had two days of glorious weather in Copper Harbor, which was an interesting place. Rather a throwback to traveling when I was a child, pre-franchise days. Once we passed through Houghton, MI, we never saw another chain restaurant or store again. Travel Diary: Bayfield, Wisconsin
We managed to leave the house by 10am yesterday. Not bad, considering Pat had to pay bills and pack before we left. Then we had to stop at the Accountant's office to drop off our 2008 taxes (yes, that's right, 2008), then a nice breakfast of flapjacks, and we were on our way. Grackles and Garage Sale
At least a thousand grackles blanketed our yard and the neighbors over a week ago. I put the dog in the yard and she just huddled up to the door. After less than a half hour, they disappeared. Morning Dreams
I cut myself last night (no, not a dream) while slicing cucumbers on a mandolin. Shoved my pinkie right into the blade and bled profusely. I used a regular bandaid to staunch the flow but it throbbed like crazy. I eventually took a co-tylenol which may or may not have factored into my morning dreams. Darkest Novel Ever
I finished reading SHARP OBJECTS by Gillian Flynn a couple days ago. I tore through it in just a couple days although the second half didn't sit as well with me as the first. Fresh Vegetables
How I made Ratatouille with pasta: Heated about 1/3 cup olive oil and sauteed 4 cloves of garlic and half a chopped onion. Added diced eggplant (3 small peeled japanese) and chopped zucchini (only had about a cup's worth but eggplant is tastier anyway) and sauteed for about another ten minutes. Friday Night Lights
I've heard what a great show this is for a few years now. I even tried to watch an episode or two, but as seems to be common with the better TV dramas, it is very hard to start mid-season.
