The Vicar of Dibley is (was) a British TV series, starring Dawn French of French & Saunders fame (also the Fat Lady in the PoA movie).

I'm not into Dr. Who so I don't know if Uprising has any connection to it or not - I'd heard snippets of it before, but it didn't really catch my attention utnil this weekend, when I heard it in the background of a movie trailer. It's definitely a cheesy song, but I like cheesy. :-)

Interestingly, my band is playing an arrangement of Danse Bacchanale just now. We haven't had it that long, so it still sounds like crap, but it's been much better under our recent guest conductors than our regular conductor.

I hope you guys have a good time in Louisville!

I love coincidences like that! I seem to recall some pretty rocking flute sections in the version on my iPod - I hope you get the opportunity to flaunt your stuff. :-)

Thanks! It's been almost a year since our last visit, so I'll be happy to see everyone (including some of my stepmom's relatives I haven't seen since I was the Goblin's age), even if they'll all be busy with wedding stuff.

I'm actually on piccolo for this. Aside from some tremelos (sp?) that have some tricky fingering, I'm not finding it too difficult. I was going to give up the piccolo this summer and let Dorothy play it--our band director refuses to allow people to switch off with solos or instrumentation. One person plays all the solos while no one else gets a chance unless the first person is gone--except that she's going to be gone for the summer. She joined some kind of military reserve and they're buying her new instruments.

It sounds like you're going to have a wonderful time catching up! I hope the weekend doesn't go too fast!

I love Bird by Bird - what I've read of it. Never bought a copy, but read lots of it while in college. :P

I'm not up to much, which is weird and nice. I like this idea of limiting my work schedule to eight hours. :) Maybe I'll read or play a video game or something. Fancy that!
