agreed on all points. It was so bad i actually considered leaving, which is heresy considering how much i love the transformers. My first clue to the pain i was in for was the fact that they used the transformers twins at all. Using the less successful, more annoying, late-stream brands of transformers that appeared as the enterprise was on its way down is a good clue that the movie will be sucktacular.
i give the movie 3 stars out of 10. 1 for still having optimus prime, 1 because the main character did a decent job of acting in spite of everything he was given, and 1 because the main female lead is still smokin hot. It would have been nice if they hadnt transformed her strongwilled, sassy, competent character into a mindless fluttery bimbo who cant even RUN without having her hand held. That angered me - a lot.
You know, before last night, I never would have guessed that I wouldn't have got this movie on DVD. That assumption I just can't make now.
You know, the twins weren't terrible, either in idea or execution. They were idiots, which I find hard to understand for GIANT WALKING COMPUTERS, but other than that they were okay.
Hmmm... points... 2 for Optimus Prime because he seriously kicked some back in this film, 1 for Shia doing an acceptable job, 1 for Sideswipe kicking ass, -1 for not enough Sideswipe kicking ass, 1 for Ravage rocking the US military single-handedly (all I could think was "You call that a mobile defense platform? I'll SHOW you a mobile defense platform!"), -1 for terrible 2 second long, badly spoken (I could barely understand Jetfire) exposition that is integeral to the plot, 1 for Starscream and Megatron being punch buddies the way they should be. Total: 4 out of 10. Not great for a big Transformers fan to think that.
obviously sideswipe didnt kick enough ass, cause i cant even remember which one he was. Ravage was pretty awesome though, i must say.
It seemed like they dropped their target audience by about 2 generations though. Last movie was made for our age group, but with a rating suitable for our age group to bring their kids. This movie had the high brow humor of a teletubbies target audience.
Was the dog humping scene not enough that they had to have a decepticon humping scene too? The Species chick was terrible, the college in general was terrible (both in how women AND men were portrayed), and to boot they threw in about 10 gay jokes and a couple midget jokes for good measure. I didnt actually laugh during the entire movie, and with the amount of effort they put in it should have been billed as a comedy instead of action.
The only redeeming feature of the movie was that it was Tanya's movie pick, not mine, so i can rib her about it.
Sideswipe was the silver corvette that transformed into a robot with wheels for feet. He was at the beginning fight where he used a sword-like appendage to cut the Decepticon car in half.

How about disguising yourself as a decent movie?
