Chapter 5

It was 5am when Jack caved and went home. He hadn't slept all night and he was tired. He'd tried going down to the bed in the bunker under his office, but it was cold and lifeless down there. He laid awake thinking about Ianto. They had made a promise that they would be able to work through anything, and he was the one breaking it by not being willing to talk things through, by being stubborn and holding onto his anger. Regardless of whether Ianto had told him about it or not, Ianto was right - they needed to know if he would come back or not and it was Jack's own fear that the Doctor was wrong that was holding them back.

Ianto had not only taken matters into his own hands, he'd taken the decision out of Jack's and that was what had driven Jack crazy. Ianto had tried to talk to him about it, and he'd shut him down every time. What else could Ianto have done? They were both to blame, and it was stupid for Jack to continue to blame Ianto when he was to blame too. Ianto had apologised. It was time Jack took ownership of his share of the blame and apologised too.

When he made his way inside their home, he frowned when he didn't see Ianto on the couch. He didn't think Ianto would be able to sleep by himself in their bed. He shrugged out of his coat and hung it on the coat rack by the door. Quietly, Jack made his way to the bedroom. He frowned when it was empty. Jack flipped open his wrist strap and tapped the keys to activate the tracking on his microchip. Ianto was at home.

Where the hell was he?

Jack listened carefully. There was no running water or tapping keys. He started going from room to room. He walked straight past the spare bedroom, but doubled back when he heard a snore. Jack leaned on the door frame and crossed his arms over his chest when he saw his lover on the king size spare bed, lying on his back. Tosh was curled up with her back against his side, her head resting on his arm, which was around her. His other arm was underneath his head. On his other side, Donna and Martha were curled up together, Donna snoring like a car engine.

Jack grinned. Ianto's head moved and looked at the doorway. He lifted his head in surprise.

“Morning,” Jack mouthed.

Ianto asked softly, “What are you doing here?”

Jack nodded his head to indicate Ianto should get out of bed. Ianto carefully replaced his arm with a pillow and slowly crawled out so as not to wake anyone. Jack moved out of the doorway and Ianto closed it behind them.

“Got yourself a little harem I see. Looks like I missed out on all the fun,” Jack said with a smile.

Ianto rubbed the back of his neck. “All the rumours about girls and their slumber parties?” Ianto said and looked up at Jack.

“Yeah?”

Ianto looked at him with a straight face. “It's all true.” He turned and walked into the kitchen. “Coffee?”

“You had pillow fights?” Jack asked, trailing after him.

“What's a slumber party without a pillow fight?” Ianto asked him. “Coffee?”

“Did they make out? Was there spin the bottle and nudity?” Jack clicked his fingers. “Did you have an orgy?”

Ianto held up a mug. “For fuck's sake, focus! Do you want a fucking cup of coffee or not?”

“No orgy then. You're never this grumpy in the morning when you've had an orgasm.” Jack grinned. “Good, because I'd be pissed I missed all the fun.” Ianto slammed the mug down on the counter and turned away. Jack came around the counter and put a hand on his shoulder. Ianto shrugged him off. “Hey! What's wrong?”

Ianto whirled around. “What's wrong?” he hissed.

Jack looked at the floor. “Yeah, okay. Stupid question.” He huffed.

Ianto ran a hand through his hair. He breathed in and out deeply. “Sir, what are you doing here?”

Jack looked up. “Don't do that! Never do that. Don't ever call me 'Sir' in our home.” Ianto looked away. Jack blew out a breath to calm himself down. “Ianto. Please. I... I came home. I missed you.”

Ianto's eyes welled with tears. “I missed you too,” he whispered.

Jack breathed in and out slowly as he moved closer and hooked a finger under Ianto's chin. “Look at me, please.” When Ianto did, he saw fear swimming in the tears that threatened to spill over. “I'm so sorry.”

Ianto's eyes widened in surprise. “What?”

Jack cupped his cheek, his thumb rubbing over his cheekbone. “I spent all night thinking...” he smiled, “after you told me off for watching you.” Ianto gave him a small, hopeful smile in return. “You were right. I was partly to blame for what happened.”

“No! Jack, n-”

Jack placed his fingers over Ianto's mouth to stop him talking. “Shhhh. Baby, you were right. If I had listened to you when you came to me, to at least discuss the possibility of trying other ways to test your immortality, you would never have resorted to shooting yourself to stop me from going insane if you were injured. I let my fear of losing you again get in the way of us, of everything.” He caressed Ianto's cheek. “I'm sorry. I only wanted to protect you, and in doing so, I nearly lost you anyway.”

Ianto covered Jack's hand with his, sliding his fingers between Jack's. “I don't need protecting, Jack. I'm a big boy. I can look after myself.”

“I know,” he smiled and nodded. “I know you can, and now that we know for sure that you will come back to me, I promise that I'll relax more out in the field, and everywhere else.”

Ianto smiled. “Thank you.”

“But you have to promise me to never, ever do anything like that again. I mean it, Ianto. Don't ever do anything like that again. Even if you think you're protecting me, don't you dare do that to me again. Nothing is worth dying for, unless we talk about it first, you hear me?” Jack asked, as a tear slid down his face.

Ianto nodded. “I promise Jack.”

“When I found you there, lying in that pool of blood, and you weren't responding...” Jack shook his head. “I can't even begin to-”

Ianto surged forward and kissed Jack. “Don't,” he said against his mouth. “Don't say it.” Ianto kissed him again, his tongue probing at Jack's lips. Jack immediately opened, granting him access and tangling his tongue with Ianto's. Twin moans were swallowed as arms wound around each other, holding the other as close as possible. Ianto ended the kiss, panting. Jack rested his forehead against Ianto's.

“I love you,” Jack said softly, his blue eyes staring down into Ianto's blue-grey ones. Ianto closed his eyes and smiled, breathing in Jack's pheromones deeply. “I love you Ianto.”

“I love you Jack,” Ianto said, nuzzling Jack's cheek, his fingers lost in Jack's hair. “I do.” He pulled back. “But is love enough?” he asked softly.

Jack froze. “What do you mean?” Ianto's arms tightened around him. “What are you saying?”

“Jack, don't. Don't panic,” Ianto warned.

“I tell you I love you and you ask me if love is enough and then tell me not to panic?” Jack asked, starting to become hysterical. Ianto pulled Jack in close again and kissed him deeply, sweeping his mouth with his tongue. Jack responded desperately, clinging to Ianto, almost trying to crawl inside him. Ianto once again ended the kiss, their chests heaving against each other. “Ianto-”

“Shhh,” Ianto said, pressing a kiss to Jack's lips again. “I meant do you still trust me?” Ianto asked as he pulled back, fear in his eyes. “Or have I ruined that forever?”

Jack closed his eyes and sighed a breath of relief. “Oh.”

Ianto swallowed. “Jack. I can't make you trust me.” Jack opened his eyes and looked at Ianto. “It might take time, it might not. You either trust me or you don't. That's a decision only you can make. But I promise you here and now, I will never do that again. It was dangerous and stupid. I put Gwen's life in jeopardy by going ahead without her. I put my own life in jeopardy, though we know now that's not such a problem. Let me finish, please,” he said when Jack opened his mouth. “I learned a valuable lesson yesterday. One I won't forget.”

Jack smiled. “I know you won't. I know you. The fact that you put a team member's life in danger will play on your mind over and over again.”

Ianto rested his head on Jack's shoulder. “Never leave a man behind. One of the first rules Lily and the others taught me.”

“Hey,” Jack hugged him. Ianto buried his head in Jack's neck, taking comfort in his embrace. “We all make mistakes, Ianto.”

“Yeah. I know,” he mumbled against Jack's neck. He closed his eyes. He was tired. He wanted to sink into Jack's warmth and never surface again. Ianto stiffled a yawn.

“Did you sleep at all last night?” Jack asked, rubbing his hand up and down Ianto's back. Ianto shook his head. “You laid there awake all night?”

Ianto pulled his head back. “You heard the freight train that is known as Donna, didn't you?” Jack chuckled. “Besides, you weren't there.” Jack sobered up. “Turns out I can't sleep without you beside me, Jack Harkness.”

“I can't sleep without you either,” Jack admitted softly before he kissed him, sucking his lower lip into his mouth and worrying on the flesh with his teeth. Ianto pressed himself closer, and deepened the kiss, tightening his fingers in Jack's hair. Their kisses turned urgent as they rubbed their hips against one another's. Jack groaned, and pulled back.“Let's go to bed,” Jack said against his lips, his hand sliding down to grab Ianto's arse and squeeze.

“Do we have to go that far?” Ianto asked, thrusting his arousal against Jack's.

“You're killin' me, Ianto.” Jack kissed him again as he pulled him against his body and started walking backwards towards the entrance of the kitchen, “I want to take my time with you.” He kissed him again. “And I don't want to give the girls a shock if they hear us.”

Ianto raised an eyebrow. “Since when do you care if anyone sees us?” He pulled at Jack's braces, yanking them down.

“Are you sure?” Jack asked, knowing that Ianto didn't normally do public displays of affection.

Ianto stretched his arm out and slid his hand against Jack's, his fingers linking together with his lover's before he pulled and led him out of the kitchen. Jack laughed and followed, wrapping his arms around Ianto's chest from behind him and pushing him into the lounge, kissing his neck and ear. Ianto shivered in his arms, turning to kiss him. Ianto's fingers fumbled with the button's on Jack's shirt, while Jack's hands roamed over his back and buttocks, through his hair and across his shoulders, keeping his senses heightened.

Ianto finally got the shirt open and pushed it off Jack's shoulders, trapping Jack's arms behind his back.

“Beautiful,” he said softly, trailing his fingernails over Jack's chest and teasing his nipples into tight buds before bending and taking one in his mouth.

Jack groaned and struggled to pull his shirt off, his cuffs catching on his wrists. He growled and yanked on it, before he finally flung his shirt across the room, his hand delving into Ianto's thick, black hair. Ianto moved his attention to Jack's other nipple, nipping and sucking on the bud, making Jack weak at the knees.

“Fuck,” Jack's voice turned gravelly as he pushed Ianto back upright and grappled for Ianto's t-shirt as Ianto pushed at Jack's undershirt. When they got tangled in each other's arms, chuckling and shushing each other, they reached for their own shirts and pulled them off. Ianto crouched down on the floor to undo Jack's boots, while Jack undid his belt and trousers. Jack kicked off his boots as Ianto pulled his pants and underwear off.

Right in front of him was Jack's hard cock, dripping wet with his arousal. Ianto wasted no time in wrapping his lips around him, his eyes rolling back in his head as Jack's pheromones exploded around the room. Ianto's tongue licked at the sensitive head, lapping at the clear liquid so Ianto could suck it all down. He'd been terrified he'd never get to taste this again. He moaned around Jack's shaft as he opened his mouth wider, allowing Jack to thrust his cock in further into his mouth and down his throat.

“Ianto, oh fuck, yes, Baby, oh so good,” Jack moaned as he thrust in and out of Ianto's mouth. Ianto's hands caressed Jack's thighs and buttocks, massaging the muscles and teasing the smattering of hair that was there. Ianto moved one hand to feel for the coffee table behind him. When he found it, he felt for the drawer and pulled it open. “What are you doing?” Jack asked, noticing that Ianto was a little distracted.

Ianto pulled off Jack's cock and wiped his mouth. “I stashed some lube in the drawer. I'm just looking for it.” Ianto twisted around to look inside the drawer and shoved things around. “Ah ha!” he pulled out a box and ripped it open, tossing the box back into the drawer. “Found it!”

“My boy scout,” Jack grinned. Ianto flipped the cap open and squeezed out a generous amount, spreading it on his fingers. Looking up at Jack, he opened his mouth and took him back in his mouth again, then reached around to track the length of his crack. Jack shuddered when Ianto's finger slid over his hole and caught on the rim, his mouth sucking hard on his cock. “You're killing me here, Baby,” he said as his thighs started to tremble.

Ianto pressed his finger inside, burying it as far as it could go and crooking it. Jack thrust forward into Ianto's throat, causing Ianto to groan. Ianto pulled his finger out and pushed it in again. He repeated it a few times before Jack told him to give him another. Ianto did, and made sure to continue to hit his prostate repeatedly.

“Need you Ianto,” Jack whimpered, cupping Ianto's cheek with his hand. “Need you now.”

Ianto pulled off. “But Jack, you're not ready-”

“Now, please,” Jack begged. “I'm ready, I promise.” Ianto pulled his fingers out, and pushed his pajama pants down as he got to his feet, falling onto the couch as he did. He kicked off the pants and rolled over onto his back. Jack handed him a cushion. “Put this behind your back.” Ianto did as Jack suggested, then looked up at him. “You're so beautiful.”

Ianto blushed and looked away. “Jack...”

“Even now, after all this time, you still get embarrassed,” Jack smiled as he knelt onto the couch and climbed over Ianto, straddling him. Ianto used his lubricated hand to slick himself as much as he could and hold himself up as Jack sank down. Jack's face contorted.

“Jack! Stop.”

“No, keep going.”

“I'm hurting you!” Ianto protested, his hands on Jack's hips, holding him still.

Jack's hands pried Ianto's off his hips and moved them over his head, stretching him out as he pushed himself down to bottom out.

“Never,” He groaned in pleasure, and captured Ianto's mouth, his tongue delving inside and playing with Ianto's.

When he pulled back a little, Ianto's arms were wrapped around him, holding him close. “I love you, Jack,” he said, looking into Jack's eyes. Jack could see the storm of emotion in them. “I was so scared you wouldn't come home. I was so scared I had ruined everything.”

Jack brushed the sweat and hair back from his forehead. “Never could. Nothing will ever be so bad that we can't come back from it.”

“Promise?” Ianto begged him, hating that he sounded so pathetically weak.

“I promise. Forever, Ianto. We're forever, remember?”

Ianto nodded, and leaned up to kiss Jack. “Forever. I remember. I remember, Jack.” He pulled his hips back down as far as he could and then thrust up, relishing the groan he illicited from Jack. “Forever,” Ianto whispered against Jack's lips.

Jack captured his lips again, and they lost themselves in each other, hands roaming sweat-slicked skin, hips thrusting to meet each other, mouths swallowing the other's moans, tongues licking and tangling together.

“So close, Jack,” Ianto panted, fingers digging into Jack's back.

Jack looked down at him. “Marry me?”

Ianto barked out a laugh. “Wha? Jack, c'mon-”

Jack kissed him. “Marry me. Marry me, Ianto. Marry me, be mine forever. Officially. Wear my ring, you don't have to change your name if you don't want to, but... be mine, forever?” Ianto blinked and stared. “I'm serious. I'm really asking.”

“Why?” Ianto asked as he stilled his hips.

“Because I don't want this to happen again. I don't want you to ever be afraid that I won't come home. I know I'm not good at the customs of your lifetime, Ianto, but I don't want to be with anyone else but you, unless you want to be. I've never felt like this before, about anyone. I travelled the width and the breadth of the universe searching for you and my love for you never dimmed one iota in two hundred years. I love you more now than I ever have before and I never want to be apart from you again. Marry me?”

Ianto smiled. “I kind of thought we already were?”

Jack blinked. “I'm sorry?”

Ianto chuckled, “Remember, in the TARDIS? When she wouldn't bring us home until we, well, committed to each other. That's what a marriage is, Jack. A public commitment to one another. Well, those on Earth also give spouses recognised by the Government legal rights as well, but...”

Jack shook his head to clear his thoughts. “So, we've been married all this time, and I didn't know about it?” Ianto shrugged. “Well, I want to do it again, then! I don't think it's fair that we got married without me knowing we got married.”

Ianto stared at him. “You're serious, aren't you?”

Jack thrust his hips. “Marry me?” Ianto smiled. “I'm going to keep asking until you say yes.”

“Really?”

“Marry me, Ianto?” Jack asked, leaning down and peppering his face with kisses. “Marry me? Please, marry me. Marry me, marry me, marry me?”

“Okay!” Ianto laughed, and kissed Jack deeply.

“Yes?” Jack asked against his mouth.

“Yes.”

Jack grinned. “Yes!” He tightened his muscles around Ianto's cock and rose up and down. Jack picked up Ianto's hand and wrapped his fingers around his cock, and together they stroked him hard and fast in time with their thrusts.

“Jack?” Jack looked down at Ianto. “I'll marry you.” Jack came all over Ianto's chest. Ianto came not long after, the tightening of Jack's muscles too much for him. Jack lapped up the mess he made and started to move off Ianto's lap. “Wait! Just... stay for a moment.”

Jack smiled and laid down on Ianto's chest. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“We should at least put some pants on,” Jack said, grinning.

Ianto looked at the back of the couch. “Okay, tell you what. You get off me, and get my pyjama pants, you can stay naked.”

Jack lit up. “Really? I get to show my ass to everyone?”

Ianto shrugged. “I get to put a ring on it. No one else can touch it now, so you can show it to the universe as far as I'm concerned.” Jack immediately got up, carefully, reached for Ianto pants and allowed him room to put them on, before climbing back on him. “We should go to bed.”

“Too far. Sleep now,” Jack mumbled into Ianto's neck, his arm and leg flung over Ianto as he slotted into the back of the couch. Ianto pulled the throw rug down from the back of the couch and spread it out over them as best he could. They fell asleep quickly, wrapped in each other's arms, and that's exactly how Donna, Martha and Tosh found them when they stumbled out of the spare room and into the lounge two hours later.

Grinning, the women let them sleep. After all, everything was right in Torchwood Three again.
