The Route to Advancement: A Day at the Tournament (Merlin Fanfic)

Mar 21, 2009 16:02

Here is the massively overdue third (and probably final) part of what’s turned into the Route to Advancement series.

I think you probably need to have read parts 1 and 2 for this last part to make sense. They are The Route To Advancement : 1 | 2

I'm relieved to say this has now been beta'd by vensre - who has found all my missing commas, introduced me ( Read more... )

fanfic, percy, route to advancement, merlin, merlin/arthur

Me, i'm just loving the fact that all the courtiers and knights think there's somethign wrong with merlin. Would've like to see uther's reaction.

And awww, no more percy?

I would never say never to more Percy - but at the moment my inspiration has run a bit dry! If I get a good idea for him I would certainly love to write more :)

And yes, I think the citizens of Camelot are not very used to seeing Obedient Merlin - god knows what Uther would have thought, the reason I left him out was that I actually couldn't decide how he'd react (although he already thinks Merlin's got some terrible mental affliction I suppose).

Anyway thank you very much for reading and commenting :)

Dragged on too long? Are you insane? I would read this if it went on forever!
I laughed so hard, I had tears streaming out of my eyes and at the same time it was ... so endearing - is the only word that I can think of even though I think there might be others.
Wonderful scene with Percy in Arthur's chambers and Merlin "helping" Percy with the jousting.
WOuld have liked to maybe have Percy realize why exactly Arthur puts up with Merlin's antics but it works also very well as friendship fic and I still love it!
Thank you.
and you know if you ever decide to write more in this verse, I'd love you very much!

Thank you!! That comment has really made my evening :) I'm glad you enjoyed it so much and that it didn't feel too long, I couldn't believe it when it ended up being 8,000 words! I did consider putting a Merlin/Arthur hint in actually, but I figured this was probably still firmly in pre-slash (or as I like to call it DENIAL) territory. I think my Merlin and Arthur are definitely headed in that direction, they just haven't realised it yet! I would love to find a way to incorporate that into a Percy story - but inspiration has not struck yet unfortunately.

Anyway thanks so much for your comment :)

I was giggling all the way through it. Merlin acting the perfect manservant and everyone noticing, thinking something was up. Very cute!

Thanks :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, I figured Merlin the Perfect Manservant would be pretty un-nerving for all concerned!

This was adorable. I have rarely laughed so hard at something that wasn't really crackfic at all. The armor scene, the rat, Isolda, the horror of a feast, and Percy's utter sweetness combined with his confusion as he watches Merlin and Arthur's relationship - all perfect. Thanks for a great read.

I don't think Percy will ever stop being just a little bit shocked at Merlin and Arthur's rather unconventional master/servant relationship :) God knows what his father would make of it!

Thanks for commenting, i'm really glad you enjoyed it!! :)

*squeal*

How on earth did you find the sheer amount of awesome it took to make this?!? I actually had to put it away while my mother was in the room because she started looking at me very strangely the second time I actually broke out in giggles.

It's a wonderful last part, but I can't help but hope it won't actually be the last part. Arthur and Merlin haven't even gotten together yet! (and Percy hasn't yet witnessed it!)

I do feel the need to point out that this isn't your first fic with more than one scene though - the first Percy story had two scenes *nods*

Win!

Oh my god - you're right! Poor Sir Edwin, i'd completely forgotten his advice to Percy. Maybe I should change that to 'multiple scenes.' It's certainly the longest fic i've ever attempted, I've only ever attempted 'one-shots' before so I was a bit worried when this just kept growing.

But anyway, I'm really pleased you enjoyed it so much, even if you did get a few strange looks :) I would never say definitely no more Percy, but I think i'd have to think up a good idea first. I'd love to have Merlin and Arthur finally get together (although god knows how many ways Percy would manage to misinterpret and misunderstand that), so yes, you never know! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment :)
