Last night I was given this radio. It's a Silvertone and the Sears catalog number is 7095. That's about all I know about it. Have done a little bit of research online, but I can only seem to find the schematic of the inside and no real information about when it was made. My guess would be late 1940'S to mid 1950'S. Whenever it was made I love it. ( Read more... )

As a rule, electronics of this age need more than tubes to get working. Usually most/all of the big electrolytic capacitors have leaked through. It's certainly possible to restore them, since all the types of components inside them are still made, except, in most cases the tubes themselves. But, and it's a big but, it usually requires a fair bit of electronics knowledge.

i actually saw one of these featured on a show called "pawn stars" they started making them in the mid thirties and stopped in the 40's they were in the mid area price range,in pristine condition they sell for around 400.00...that includes the tubes unfortunatley. :( still a great gift though!

Cool. Now I'll have to see if I can track down that episode.
