This was really amazing, and tragic and beautiful. I really have no desire to see the show go down a path like this, even though it's part of the larger canon of Arthurian legend but at least the way you wrote it was poetic and oddly fitting for the characters, especially when you tied in Gwen's command for him to live for her.

Just a few nitpicks, hope you don't mind, I don't mean any offense, I just know that when I used to write I never had time for a beta reader and always found it useful when people pointed out small errors:

He raised his eyebrows. “If that’s because you were a servant, you know it’s never matter to -“ (mattered?)
“Because I love you. I trust what I feel, and right now, I feel you’re the best person I’ve ever know. (known?)
His gaze feels upon every trace of her, and ignoring the crown behind him, he raises his hand, touching her face, feeling her. (crowd? )

First, thank you for point out my mistakes. I take no offense, the more tips I get the better. Already fixed those errors :)

Second, thank you for your review. I don't want the show to go there either (I dream with a happy ending for everyone!), and since Gwen isn't forced to marry Arthur, as it happens in the legends, I don't think she will betray him :)

It's not often I say, but that's one of the best pieces I've read.

I wasn't sure where this was going at first, but I loved every moment of it. I love the scene at the beginning with Merlin, and that little romantic sword scene with Arthur and Gwen. I love that Gwen was escaping because she didn't want to be Arthur's down fall, despite the fact they both love one another. Presumably this alludes to the fact that Gwen will one day betray him for Lancelot, and I love that even though it hasn't happened, she's still trying to stop it from happening. That's so Gwen. I love also that Arthur wanted her to kill him now if that was the case.

I love the sequence at the end, as well as all the imagery. Good job :)

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

I don't think Gwen would ever betray Arthur in the show, though :)

Stunning work! It breaks my heart (and I REALLY don't want to see this happen) BUT that doesn't detract from the fact that this is a really well written piece. It made my eyes leak a bit! xx

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.

I don't want it to happen as well! Arwen deserves a happy ending :)

This fic has traumatized me. And I mean that in a good way. It is so in keeping with the characters and the actual myth. I love how hopeful Arthur is which is what made the ending so heartbreaking to read. Call me an optimist though, I don't know if this version of Arthur has it in him to ever order Gwen's execution no matter what she's done.

Well done! Maybe something a little fluffier next time?!

Thank you for your comment :)

I tried to show here, in the beginning, that Arthur was growing up to be a just king and, for that, he needed to execute his law - I think that was why, in most legends, he does condemn Guinevere, even though he still loves her. Anyway, I don't think - at least, I hope so! - the show won't go as far as having Gwe betraying Arthur. Their feeling are purer than those in the legends ;D

And I will try writing something much more fluffier next time!

Ooh, but that just gave me goosebumps. You know, I've always been a lives-happily-ever-after fanatic, but lately I've been getting into the angst. And it's angst and tragedy like this that really, really gets to me -- because there's something haunting and poignant and beautifully tragic about how no matter how much you want to stop something from happening and no matter how good your intentions are at first, you can't go against fate -- in this case, Guinevere's destiny to lead Camelot to ruin, even though it was the last thing she ever wanted to do. It was just SO jarring and emotionally exhausting. It was *awesome* haha. Great job :D
