Anticipation - Clex - mpreg

Last Thursday I posted a Harry Potter MPREG and I think there's an LJ or fandom law or something that you have to wait at least one month between posting MPREGs so I hadn't planned on writing something for MPREG day.

I changed my mind last night around 11:30. Obviously I was tired and not thinking clearly. Really tired and not thinking clearly. Incredibly tired and... well, you get the idea.

Anticipation

Lex wished he'd only been left with vague memories from when he'd been possessed by Zod. However, Lex could remember everything.

Lex could remember Lana meeting him on the roof of the LuthorCorp Tower. He remembered the world plunging into chaos, which actually had been fairly fun to watch. He also remembered fighting with Clark while being super-powered, which had been even more fun.

Memories, however, weren't the only thing he still had after being possessed by Zod. Stroking a hand over his belly, he felt a definite lump there.

"Gee thanks for knocking me up, Zod," Lex muttered.

Lex was determined to hide the changes in his body until he could figure out a way to get rid of the baby without killing himself. The secret lasted for a couple of weeks until Clark walked into his study while Lex was standing by the window.

"Lex, I want to talk to you about-" Clark almost stumbled in shock. "A baby!" he shouted.

"You want to talk to me about a baby?" Lex asked, feigning ignorance.

"You've got a baby!" Clark yelled. "In you. In your belly. There's a baby in your belly!"

Lex frowned slightly. "I know we aren't friends anymore, but are you really accusing me of eating babies?"

"No! There's a baby in you. Alive. In your belly, like in Alien." Clark's eyes widened. "Like in Alien," he repeated in a squeaky voice. "Oh God, it's going to burst out of your belly and kill you!"

"Actually, Toby has taken a blood sample and it appears to be mostly human."

"Wait a minute. You know there's a baby inside you?"

Lex gave Clark a thin smile. "The question is how you knew. Did you use your x-ray vision?"

"Actually I heard the heartbeat and... Crap, I really shouldn't have said that."

"It's okay, Clark. I remember everything."

"Everything? Does that mean you know who the father... um... other parent of this baby is?"

"No," Lex said quietly.

"I thought you just said that you remembered everything."

"I do. However, Zod decided to take full advantage of his release from his prison and enjoy life to the fullest."

Clark appeared puzzled so Lex decided he'd have to spell it out for him.

"Zod slept around. A lot."

It took Clark a moment to digest that information. Lex knew Clark thought of Zod as a ruthless, dangerous opponent. Now he had to adjust to the idea that Zod was also a slut.

"When you say 'a lot'," Clark said slowly, "what exactly do you mean?"

"If I were to buy diamond earrings for every person Zod slept with, I'd have to declare bankruptcy."

Clark and Lex were slumped on the sofa, drinking milk, and pondering Lex's problem. Lex would've loved to have been drunk, however Clark refused to let him have any alcohol. Lex had tried to explain that he didn't want the baby, but Clark had simply sped off and returned with two glasses of milk.

With every sip he took, Lex's hatred of Zod grew. It was one thing to possess a person's body and get him pregnant. Depriving a man of his scotch, however, was a serious offense.

It didn't help Lex's mood that Clark wasn't being any help in the matter. Lex wanted to discuss ways to get rid of the baby. Clark was still fixated on Zod's list of conquests.

"I understand Lana and Chloe and Lois and the girl who works at the Burger Shack, and the boy that works at the movie theater, and most of your security guards, and half of LuthorCorp," Clark said, shaking his head in disbelief at Lex's revelations. "But General Lane? And Perry White?"

Lex hadn't told Clark even a tenth of whom he'd slept with. He didn't think Clark would appreciate knowing that Cheney hadn't gotten the nickname Dick because it was short for Richard.

Clark glanced down at Lex's belly. "It could be anyone's."

"Don't forget Fine. There was a reason the Kryptonians made him that good looking."

"He's the one I'm betting is the father," Clark said.

Lex pretended to agree. Personally, though, he would've put his money on that strange guy in Gotham who dressed like a bat.

After a long night punctuated by several trips to the bathroom, Lex wasn't sure he wanted to face Clark who'd shown up on his doorstep early that morning. He mostly didn't want to face him because Lex suspected something was seriously wrong.

His first clue was that Clark had rung the doorbell and waited while one of Lex's new security guards let him in.

Lex had thought Clark didn't even know what doorbells were.

The second clue was that Clark stayed silent, only answering Lex's questions and not shouting any accusations.

"Okay, Clark," Lex finally said. "What's going on?"

Clark swallowed hard then walked to where Lex was leaning against his desk. It was a good thing that the desk was steady because Lex's legs almost gave out when Clark knelt at his feet.

Lex had had a ton of fantasies about this happening, but usually he and Clark were a lot less clothed in them. He reached for the elastic waist band of his maternity pants. Never let it be said that a Luthor couldn't adjust to unanticipated circumstances.

He'd only started tugging his shirt out of his pants when Clark looked up at him.

"Lex, will you..." Clark's gaze went to Lex's hands and he frowned. "What are you doing?"

This scenario was not going anything like his fantasy.

"Adjusting... you know... pregnant." Lex knew that his babbling didn't make any sense but he'd already figured out that you could blame practically anything on being pregnant.

"Oh," Clark said, making a poor showing of pretending to understand and sympathize.

"I'm fine," Lex said, doing his best to appear anything but. "Do go on."

Swallowing hard, Clark held up a ring. "Lex, will you marry me?"

"What?" Lex would've scrambled away but was trapped by the desk.

"Will you marry me?" Clark repeated, this time louder and more slowly as if Lex was hard of hearing.

"Have meteor rocks rotted your brain? Why are you asking me to marry you?"

"A Kryptonian got you pregnant. A Kryptonian that I'm responsible for bringing to Earth. I think it's only right for me to make up for that. And a baby needs two parents."

Lex was infuriated. Clark obviously thought that despite being an intelligent, successful, billionaire, he'd fall apart now that he had a bun in the oven. He'd fall apart so badly that he needed a dim, inexperienced, poor farm boy to save him.

Lex was close to telling Clark exactly where he could stick that ring when he got a horribly brilliant idea.

Turning away from Clark as if overcome with emotion, Lex said quietly, "You don't want to marry me, do you?"

There was a long pause behind him. He heard noises and felt Clark standing near his back.

In an entirely unconvincingly tone, Clark answered, "Of course I do."

"No, you don't," Lex said, still turned away. "You're only asking me because I'm pregnant."

"So?"

Pretending to be heart-broken, Lex spun around. "You're supposed to want to marry me because you love me!" he screeched. "Not because of the baby."

Clark's mouth dropped open.

Lex covered his face with his hands and let out a couple of fake sobs and flung himself into Clark's arms.

"Lex?"

Feeling a pair of strong arms wrap around him, Lex rubbed roughly at his dry eyes, hoping it would look like he'd been crying.

"I'm s-sorry, Clark," Lex stammered, pulling back so he could gaze at Clark's face. "It must be the hormones."

"No, that's all right, Lex. Really."

"You don't mind then?"

Clark looked momentarily confused but must have been worried that saying the wrong thing would trigger another hormonal outburst. "No, I don't mind."

Lex gave Clark a tremulous smile. "Good. I'm so glad you're going to woo me."

"What? What do you-" Clark broke off what he'd been about to say as Lex's smiling face dropped. "I mean," Clark continued, striving for control, "what do want me to do? Tell me how to..." Clark took a deep breath "how to woo you."

Lex smiled. He might've been the one pregnant, but Clark was so screwed.
