Addition to last entry

With everyone's enlightening perspectives, I want to say that the band's style doesn't have to necessarily be completely innovative, so long as they don't fully stick to an established medium or work within that medium to bring about a variety of sounds. Also, as far as I'm concerned, instruments and musical arrangements are a bit more important ( Read more... )

Sameer, how many Clash albums have you heard? Because only their first (and maybe their second, depends on how you look at it) are really 70's punk.

Do you like the Grateful Dead?

I'm not too fond of Phish, but if you like lyrics that don't make sense, you might want to check out Joe Strummer's last band, the Mescaleros. They really experiment with world music, think Paul Simon's Graceland (which is an amazing album too).

I like these music posts.

I'll be sure to check them out, thanks. To be honest, I've only heard Combat Rock, but I wasn't only reffering to the Clash there, I was mainly thinking about the Sex Pistols and the Ramones. And yes, I like the Grateful Dead. They'd probably make it here too.

I really like the Sex Pistols and the Ramones, but I do admit they can get a bit repetative.

Combat Rock is my least favorite Clash album (I still do like it though.) Pick up London Calling, which could arguably be one of the best rock 'n' roll albums of all time. Or Sandinista! which is really my favorite. It experiments a lot with reggae, dub (which I've really started to dig lately), and Latin American music. I think you'd like that one best.

HALL AND OATES!! YES!!!! In all seriousness, "Rich Girl" maybe one of the greatest songs ever written. The beat is great; it's just awesome.

Thank you Ryan and Jason, though 1)I can't completely say that I've heard every Hall and Oates song past a few of the hits and 2) I don't know how much longer these music posts will continue. They'll happen, at least a few times, but don't expect this to be the main content of the page. It'll more often than not be my rants and other related things. So yeah.

yeah, i second the london calling notion...it is amazing...don't be too quick to judge the clash before listening to that. id liek to mention that these music posts really do make me happy...i love them. as far as the eagles go...this really applies to your earlier entry...i hate them for no apparent reason. ok i dont hate them, but it's odd, theyre right up my ally so to speak, but i can't get into them. as far as miles davis goes...awesome. no other words...do a jazz music post (id be a big fan of that one)
