Happy Birthday!

Well I worked late so I'm just getting home but I figured I would use it as an opportunity to wish our boy Gustav a happy 146th birthday. I'm excited because for once I can EXPECT a Mahler symphony on the local classical station without fear of being let down. Anyone doing any Mahler-related celebrating?

I have work today (bleaugh), but I told the people at work that I WOULD be hijacking the store-wide stereo with Mahler and they couldn't do anything about it. I'll probably also play some of his lieder accompaniments on the piano and illustrate more of the songs as well. And, providing the noise level is not bad, I will compose.

Of course, this still sucks and is boring and insubstantial compared to what I did last year.

I was in Toblach. In the afternoon, I went up to Mahler's composing hut and spent about two hours in there working on an orchestral piece of my own.

I really wish I were there now!

Did you compose your symphony in the shed?
