Millitimed to Thanksgiving afternoon...

Nov 22, 2005 09:25

Ryan and Elaine have both been very busy this morning in the kitchen and around the house. They've been cooking, washing up, rearranging furniture, asking for folding chairs and small tables from Bar, and generally getting set up for a party.

Elaine's been using the back of her cookbook (Better Homes and Gardens, 1969) as a guide for setting up ( Read more... )

Ryan walks up behind her and wraps his arms arms around her, giving her a kiss on the head.

"We did. It'll be fine."

She smiles. "I hope so."

She also hopes lots of people come.

Or there will be weeks of leftovers. And their freezer isn't that big.

He walks over and picks up three dvd cases from the countertop.

"The Bar gave us these. To help with the Thanksgiving Day ambiance, I guess."

One was a dvd of a 1978 Thanksgiving Day football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins, one was a recording of a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade from 1952 and the other was a dvd of the 1939 classic, Wizard of Oz.

Elaine looks at the DVD's curiously. "Well, it will be interesting, at the very least. I've certainly never seen any of them."

She looks over the layout, to see if anything is missing. Nothing is--they've been working on this for a while.

And there's a cautious knock on the door.

Malcolm's never been to this part of the bar before, so he wasn't sure he got the right address. He's cradling a bottle of 1997 Antinori Chianti in his arm and wearing a hopeful look on his face.

"I hope I'm not too early?"

"No, I think the others will be along soon," Ryan said, walking over to greet the man.

"Malcolm Crowe, right?" Two people he hadn't met before were expected to arrive and Ryan's pretty sure this isn't Helen. He holds out his hand. "I'm Ryan Chappelle."

[OOC: This is being millitimed and slowtimed like crazy so I dunno when other people will be tagging.]

"Hello, Ryan," Malcolm offers a hand. "Very pleased to meet you."

"You're from Jack's world, is that right? I think he's mentioned you. And Elaine has, of course."

He hands over the wine. "I thought people might enjoy this."

Malcolm grins. "Though if I know Elaine, she probably had everything perfect and ready days ago."

"Yes," he answers, not sure what Jack would have told Dr. Crowe. "He and I used to work together at CTU."

Ryan accepts the bottle and looks at the label. "Ah, thanks, you didn't have to. Good year."

3/5 of the Bauer clan is at the door, bearing wine. Chase is even wearing a slightly nicer shirt than usual!

Ryan answers the door while Elaine is talking to the guests. "Hello, Chase, Kim. And Angela, nice to meet you. Come in."

Jack opens the door hearing voices on the other side and glances around for Ryan or Elaine as he comes in. He's wearing a sport coat over a button-down shirt and dress pants, but no tie. Not on a holiday.

He has a bottle of wine in his hand, of course.

Of course.

"Jack, hey, nice to see you. Kim and Chase are already here."

"I see," he says, waving to them over Ryan's shoulder and taking another look around the room. "Have you seen Chris at all today?"

She'd already left the room when he'd woken, and he thought that maybe she was helping set up, but he can't see her anywhere.

"No," Ryan answers, furrowing his brows a bit. "She said she was going to stop back home to get the recipe for the stuffing but that was Tuesday and I haven't spoken to her since."

He hopes she doesn't get stuck back home.

Lee hasn't really dressed up for the occasion, just sweater and jeans as usual, but he does have a bottle of wine with him. Of course.

"Hey, Lee, nice to see you." He gestures towards the bottle in Lee's hand with an amused grin. "And you brought wine. Thank you."

He's not sure why this should be a problem, until he notices all the other bottles.

"...you're welcome?" Slight wince, although it is amusing.

"Happy Thanksgiving, at any rate."

"I'm sure it will be," Ryan says with a wry grin, tapping the bottle.
