Well. That blew me out of the water. I come back from vacation to find that they're getting rid of my position, so as of tomorrow, I won't be coming in to work anymore ( Read more... )

Thanks. It caught me by surprise, that's for sure. But at least they're offering a severance package. It gives me some time to find another job.

Yeah, it really sucked. We already had so few admin people, and they got rid of so many more this time.

They gave everyone they let go a severance package, and it will give me some breathing space, so I am not too stressed yet. We'll see what the economy has in store.

I'm hoping your field is at least one that's relatively easy to find work. Jay's going to be in the same sitch in six months, and I dunno how easy it'll be for him. He may have to do something else when we move. :(

Not yet. I wasn't expecting them to let go of as many people as they did, so I was pretty sure I would be okay. Still, I do have a little bit of time, so I'll just finish our packing, and work on my resume, and when the new year comes, I'll start looking again.

I'm an admin/secretary. There are always admin positions around, even if it's just for filing and answering phones, though, so I think I'll be okay.
