Being so far away from home can be nervewracking. I know the tsunami waves aren't supposed to go as high as the house, but I can't get anyone on Maui via phone.

Eric says that he got his friends on Oahu, but no one on Maui is connecting, so we can't find Mom or Dad or Lynn or Susan.

I shall be a worrywart for the rest of the day.

You're in my thoughts. I hope everyone is OK.

Don't worry~ things don't seem to be as bad as reported in 1960. It's just a voluntary evac rather than mandatory.

Maui county is projected around 6-7ft. Oahu is probably going to rise about 1-2 ft.

Thanks. I think the big problem is that I can't get anyone's phone. Neither home nor anyone's cell phones. Have you heard anything about outages over there?

No outages reported -- it's more people are panicking and calling from all over to make sure everyone here is okay, so the lines are probably overloaded for the time being.

As for Maui - the only news surfacing is that they closed down the water water sewage treatment system to minimize overflowing.

I just saw on the news that the first of the tsunami waves has hit the big island. Looks like it's just a few feet in height.

EDIT: Here's a better article - http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/02/27/chile.quake.hawaii/index.html?hpt=C1

So far, it doesn't seem very bad. I do suspect that the circuits are busy because everybody's calling everybody else. Fingers crossed for your family.

Oh man. :hugs: I'm sure that everyone will be ok. It's probably just overloaded circuits, like someone else mentioned. :hughug:
