So far Midnighter had determined two things. The first was that there was no way out. The doors and windows didn't break, and if they didn't break when he hit them there was a good chance nothing was going to break 'em. The second was that there were more people in this house than just himself and that kid judging by how the dust in the house had been disturbed. Only problem with that second observation was that, other than the kid, he hadn't run into anyone. Given that the house wasn't that big, either they were hiding or he had some sort of fucking choice blindness where these mysterious people were all where he wasn't looking. Odder things had happened.

And then he saw a kid with an eye-patch in the dining room. Oh good, he wasn't going totally crazy after all.

"What do you know about this place?"

"Yeah, it really is."

Midnighter was going to lecture the kid on the importance of staying in school, but realized two important things. First: the kid was a teenager, and old enough to make his own decision, but more importantly: the kid wasn't his kid, so it was none of his damn business. What the hell was fatherhood doing to him?

"Your brother here?"

That made him smile. People who agreed with him always did that, since he liked knowing that they didn't mind what he said.

"I dunno...I haven't seen him or any of my friends since I got here," Akito replied with a shrug. It had been strange, since both Kaito and his teammates had been nearby a moment ago and now they weren't.

If Jenny were something like this kid, he wouldn't mind her impending teenage years too much. However, he'd met Jenny Sparks and Midnighter had a sinking feeling that Jenny Q wouldn't be half as polite and soft-spoken as this kid.

"It's the same with me and my team. Speaking of, you haven't happened to have seen a silver-haired guy about yay high--" he motioned to about mid-cowl "--fucking gorgeous, has a white outfit with a symbol of the sun that kind of looks like this--" Midnighter pushed his coat out of the way so Akito could see the crescent moon emblem on his chest. "--'cept it's yellow and white?"

Yeah, he only asked about his husband. After all, he was the only member of the Authority that mattered, other than Jenny. And he'd rather not think his daughter was wandering around here somewhere.

Midnighter definitely did not want to meet Akito's other half then.

The light listened to that, pinged by a few of the words. Some reminded him of his brother, others...well, it kind of sounded like Midnighter liked this guy. "Is he someone special to you?" he asked, trying to remember if he'd met anyone like that. Hm...he couldn't really. He hated giving people bad news, but...

"I don't think I have, neh...I'm sorry." Akito sighed a little. Too many people he'd met were separated from friends and family.

Midnighter could deal with bratty kids, but he didn't want to raise one.

"Yeah, he's my husband." Midnighter stretched and otherwise seemed unconcerned that Apollo wasn't there. After all, he'd already figured as much, but it never hurt to ask. "Eh, it's all right."

Well that was interesting! Akito hadn't ever met anyone who had actually married someone of their own gender before. He probably knew more people who were homophobic to some degree than anyone similar to him. It would forever puzzle him.

But that didn't matter. He nodded a little, thinking over that. "I think a lot of people arrived here without people who are important to them...kind of mean of whoever did this, neh." He wanted his bird...though he still had Agito. That was the most important thing. He didn't know what he'd do without his other.

The kid’s little “neh” tic was starting to get annoying, but as this kid was Rain Man or something, he probably couldn’t help it, so he kept having to remind himself not to call attention to it. He was also more than a little curious as to exactly how naive Akito was, because between calling his captor mean for not having the courtesy to kidnap people they knew, and being worried about the fallen curtains, he was guessing he was pretty damn naive.

“You know we’re being held here against our will, and that it’s not just some sort of party, right?”

Naive, Akito? Very when he wasn't actually thinking about it. However he did know that the world wasn't tea and cookies. When your older brother made you kill people and your other half living in your head did so on a regular basis, kind of hard to be naive. He just wasn't one for the stronger language.

"Mmhmm, I know." He looked around idly, thinking to himself. "It's not cool. My other would say it in different words. But there's not much we can do about it right now." The light shrugged. Until either whoever it was who kidnapped them showed up or someone found a way out, he couldn't do much except explore around.

"Your other?" Midnighter was looking around the room now, trying to take everything in. He'd been so pre-occupied with Rain Man that he really hadn't gotten a good look. Everything really was out of a goddamn history book in this place, wasn't it?

"And that's true, but you also don't have to worry about the goddamn curtains. I'm sure they'll deal with the vandalism."

Not a problem at all~ fanged_wings October 15 2011, 02:10:11 UTC
"My other half, Agito. He and I share this body," the light explained easily, watching the man examine the room.

He smiled a little at that, rubbing his neck. "I suppose so...I guess it's just what I do though, worry. Agito tells me all the time that I should stop it." His other was forever annoyed by his worrying, but accepted it. It was just the way Akito was.

"Like multiple personality disorder?" The masked man walked over to one of the display cases and looked at all the knick-knacks. Someone must live here, or why go through all the trouble of decorating the place the way it was?

"It's healthy to worry a little bit, but you should be more picky on what you worry about."

"Yeah, some people call it that." He nodded, watching Midnighter move around.

He laughed a little at that, sheepish. "Probably, neh...I've just never been able to stop myself." Akito worried about everything, seriously.

"Hey, you do what works for you."

Continuing his investigation of the room, he noticed a door he hadn't gone though yet. Judging by the layout of the house and what he had so far seen (or rather could see, as several doors had proven unbreakable), Midnighter figured that had to be the kitchen. All right, new destination.

"You okay on your own?"

"Yup, I'm good. Agito will take care of me, so I'm not really ever alone anyway." Handy thing about having your other half in your head. Stopped you going insane on occasion.

"Riiight."

Whatever helps you sleep at night. He certainly wasn't going to contradict you, especially since he's seen stranger.

"Don't die of boredom."

And with that, Midnighter took off into the kitchen.
