EXACTLY. If marriage is a religious institution, the government should stay out of it. Religions all have different ideas on how it's supposed to be done, and the government isn't supposed to establish a religion, so the government shouldn't really be dealing in marriage at all. Besides, anyone (man+woman, man+man, woman+woman -- at least before yesterday) could get married by going to the court house and signing some paperwork without any religious bits whatsoever.
I have faith we'll fix it. Remember, people of different races didn't used to be able to get married. People will figure it out. This new amendment is unconstitutional, and someday, hopefully soon, it will go down.
