There was a ship called the Pax Magellanic, leftover from before the fall. When we encountered her, her commanding officer was anxious to take on another captain. [He isn't aware that the Andromeda went through the exact same scenario with Dylan in charge.] Her crew was loyal and effective. The commanding officer told us that ( Read more... )

It need not be an unhealthy practice. [He's... almost chipper. His friend is back.]

Unharmed and less irritated. [And in a better mood in general. Yay for people not vanishing out of his life forever!]

[Sometimes positive things happen here!] Good. I take it you were not trapped in the CES.

No. I spent most of the time defending people against the staff. However, when I went near the CES there was a spider of considerable size guarding it.

I'll live. Kinda want to cancel that guy's powers and kick his ass though. He ruined my favorite holiday.

I suppose the limits of redemption applied to him or someone might have gotten the opportunity.

Well, it's...done, anyway, at least.

I really could do that if I needed to, though. Cancel someone's powers. I just have to have them in sight and be able to break their concentration.

I didn't know you could do that. That's an ability with heavy obligations. Useful. But one that requires consideration.

I'm all right. Sprained my shoulder, but nothing terribly serious.

I was one of the people trapped in the CES for being overly useful. Adventures ensued, including a nasty fall into a ditch.

I'm grateful your head didn't suffer worse. [Kirk, why did your head catch on fire?] I suppose I should be disappointed I wasn't in the CES.

Are you all right? [ That she's calling him should be sign enough she is, she hopes.

And even if she didn't understand the whole story because technobabble... ] ...she killed the whole ship?

The entire ship. They were in the middle of a firefight. They traveled down to the surface of the nearest planet, and she was ordered by the captain to self-destruct so that she wouldn't fall into enemy hands.

She felt she had been reduced to the position of "ship" rather than "love" again. Though he was thinking in terms of both of their duties to the Commonwealth as he would probably die on that world. She destroyed the planet below, and the rest of the crew on it. Then in her loneliness, used the faceless maintenance androids to reproduce her crew precisely as she had recorded them.

So in your world, they're people?

This past month, for you...

Some ships are. Commonwealth ones, mostly, because it improves their function.

I've had worse months here. [It was more difficult that he was pretty sure he was losing people, which bothered him more than the rest of the ship.]
