Well, bird flu is a concern, however I'm sure you'll be good. Sorry to hear that Chiang Mai is full of "farang" - not sure what that is and pedophiles. Hope that you enjoy Um Phang. Watch out for Myanmar's crazy stuff!

In Thailand foreigners are called 'farang', in Cambodia it's 'barang', and in Vietnam 'pharang' again.

I don't think so. I've grown fond of the expression "sexpats" for the creepos with young Thai ladyfriends.
