I'm directing a short one-act play for a local theatre festival.  The play is "Stool" and the festival is called New Works New Britain - http://www.nwnb.webs.com/  Check it out!  :)

I think you handled it very well. The cast member's comment was just plain out-of-line.

Very cool that the show will get to go up again!!!

And nobody is getting paid for this, right? Holy smokes. Sounds like your actor wants to muddle his way through both plays.

Remember - you always have the Tantrum Option! Director's prerogative.

Oh, and I should mention that bixxy's husband is also in one of the short plays!

So drama queen sent an e-mail today saying that he got his schedule for the other show, and I should look for someone to replace him for the NY festival. So, at least it's an answer. Although it means I'll have to do a little more rehearsing with it than I'd hoped, so we can fit in the new guy.

I'm keeping the tantrum option on the back burner - when I DO need it, it's got to be effective! :)
