I’m sorry if I find performing brain surgery on my boyfriend a little nerve-wracking, Ryou internally snarled. *snickers* He's getting less and less polite as time goes by, at least to himself. Mwahaha. One day the facade will break and everyone will be floored.
This gesturing was useless, and Ryou resented its implication that what they were doing was somehow connected to anything physical. I love the way he thinks so much. So many people would gesture along with the magic precisely because it helps them with visualisation, it's so neat that he's the other way around.
Oh, tired Ryou. ♥
I'm angry about that too," he added as an afterthought. X3
since there was little a control freak disliked more than being completely blindsided.*snickers* So true, so true. Though i'm also enjoying Haaskoning's lack of remorse about not warning them. His reasons were pretty solid too. It's nice that he also comes across as a smart man, because to be a magian he'd pretty much have to be, huh (then again geeks can be smart in one way yet fail

... didn't notice my comment was getting long-ish until LJ refused to take it. Hn.
That was crude but also clever and messy and bolder than they are wont. It could be an indication of some powerful new man rising to prominence within their order. ohohoho. Foreshadowing? *_*
The pendant you carried. All the Per Gathas of the highest circles carry one, since we, ah, tend to occasionally go to odd places, and do odd things. Sometimes we do not survive them ...they're really kind of badass. Not at all an order of priests removed from reality. ♥
The "black box" thing is a funny private joke in the order, i bet. Any outsider would be all "great mystery! let's philosophize" over that name. XD
"My point," said Ryou, pushing up his glasses, "is that we're only just beginning to talk." oh, Ryou. X33 Freelance contractor! AWESOME.
Nicodeme was organizing a masseur and a bedtime companion for Leyam’s nightly routine Oh, the life of kings. XD
if they give me nothing to defend myself with, I'll strike a deal with the Ancients out of self

can't write the long adoring review this deserves, cause I don't have time, but definitely start posting the mini arc, cause I'm impatient, and as long as there aren't cliffies they sound fine to start reading.
This is so smart! It's not often you get to read a 'fantasy' novel as well thought-out as this, this is real impressive and you should be proud of yourself.
If it is more a series of one-shots, then please, please, please, don't make us wait too much *puppy eyes*
This chapter was rather information-heavy. It's very helpful to understand what is going on, Ryou looks all-powerfull witty and intelligent in it and we see he can acts like Leyam's equal sometimes but I must admit I have a fondness for human interaction and on that side I remained rather hungry. That and as it is the last chapter of the arc, I thought the second main character (Darius) would be slightly more important than just sitting there and then disappear.
Of course all of the above doesn't mean I haven't appreciated this chapter. I love your story, all the tidbits I can get are always welcome. And as I said, Ryou getting the upper-hand (of sort) on the Per Gatias and conversing as an equal with Leyam (does Darius know?) was a very pleasant read.
Would the readers prefer to have the first few written chapters out in a couple of weeks, and then a certain time to wait until the next section is out? Or should I wait until most of it is written until I start posting?
Maybe strike a balance between the two and post a chapter every few weeks? That way the wait for the readers will be less, but it might also give you enough time and latitude to finish the other half. /two cents
