Tragically, the administration frowns heavily on any sort of competitive elimination-based classroom environment. My proposals repeatedly fall upon deaf ears.
Fortunately, the students are unaware of this, and have yet to muster the nerve to formally lodge complaints.
It's entirely possible that it was cooked up as a form of torture. Any fertile imagination (and I imagine they are intelligent when they're fed to you; you'd be too quick with those who weren't) can accurately predict that you'd hate anything less than cerebral.
And if you kicked a student out of your classroom, you'd have smaller tutor-groups. More interaction! One-on-one professor time! Doesn't that make you quake in fear?
