actually, Wicca is a relatively new religion. It has only been around in official form since the 1940's with Gerald Gardner who consolidated traditions and rituals spanning back generations in families combined with a little research into ancient cultures. I expected you as a Wiccan to know that. it would be more accurate to say that paganism has been around longer than Christianity, however, Wicca is a relatively new kid on the block compared to Christianity. Read any serious book on Wicca, only fluffy bunny Wiccans and newbies, or the seriously misinformed are of the belief that Wicca is an ancient religion ( ... )

Actually...I decided to help you out...

Wicca is a Neopagan religion and a religious movement found in various countries throughout the world. It was first popularised in 1954 by a retired British civil servant named Gerald Gardner[1] after the British Witchcraft Act was repealed. He claimed that the religion, of which he was an initiate, was a modern survival of an old witchcraft religion, which had existed in secret for hundreds of years, originating in the pre-Christian Paganism of Europe. Wicca is thus sometimes referred to as the Old Religion. The veracity of Gardner's claims cannot be independently proven, and it is thought that Wiccan theology began to be compiled no earlier than the 1920s.[2] -Wikipedia ~Wicca

So, Clowns right, and you're date was off...other than that...Things were done, friendships changed or lost, and lives kept to the current they were let to go with...leave it alone...is it so hard?

you've missed several key words within your pulled definition. Gardner "claimed", "modern survival", "cannot be independently proven" and "thought that Wiccan theology began to be compiled no earlier than the 1920's." all he had to go off of was family traditions, his own coven and secret covens and the interpretations of ancient texts. Wicca, as the official religion, as official as Wicca gets, that is, is relatively new. I don't believe the ancient peoples called it Wicca. It is based upon many different traditions and rituals and i'd even go so far as to say that the different paths, i.e. fairy, Celtic, Greek, were established at different times. It is many religions under one name, a name that was officially established in the 1900's. I'd say you were right on with the "pre-Christian paganism of europe" but paganism is a much broader term than Wicca, it's sort of a blanket term, like Christianity, there are many different religions within the term. and yes, paganism has been around far longer than Christianity, but Wicca is a ( ... )

First off chris and I where right. Look at the line that says it was Popularized by gardner. That means it's been around a while. Just cause ways change doesn't means it's a new religion all together ( ... )

clown: you are a moron. i'm not going to continue to argue with you, because i don't actually care about anything you've got to say. you're too stupid to be important to me, and you don't treat your associates well so i don't even have a reason to care about the way you(incorrectly)think. the only reason i'm here is because mmmmk told me to come here. so this is it. i'm going to respond on the behalf of someone else, because i don't even have enough interest to care about this unless someone else is asking me to. say whatever you want if you feel like you've got to have the last word. i'm not even going to defend myself against it, or even read it probably, so make sure it's something really offensive and insulting, so you can look cool in front of whoever bothers to read your personal journal(which is probably also filled with uneducated inconsistencies...).
