Oh, you answered! Goodness, I was afraid you might be upset.

But indeed, it would be a bit of a setback for me should that happen.

I can't possibly be upset; equilibrium has been returned. If it were to happen again, I would prefer it with fewer speakers involved.

Your tampering with the journal system was clumsy. Make your requests sooner next time so I can do it properly.

Ah, perhaps I might convince the residents to have another festival next year. Of their own will, I should hope. Things might improve enough by then to even warrant it!

Aha, yes... I'm afraid I've never been quite talented with it. I'm sorry to have to trouble you with it! But I hadn't expected to be coming here so soon!

I reckon this place is about to get a lot less peaceful and secure.

Quite right, my boy.

Just how troubled are these people who might come after you?

A great deal of trouble. But we, quite fortunately, have a barrier over our heads!

You, unpopular?

I never had this problem before I became CEO.

Well, you know what they say about authority.

That shift- was so detailed.

That a shift is capable of changing emotions and desires and memories isn't really a surprise anymore but-- [shaking his head as he's speaking] Those were years, and years worth of completely new, detailed memories --for hundreds of people.

Oh, not that detailed. It was all a bit sloppy and thrown together, if you ask me. Goodness, there were people with children older than they were! But what can you expect from a trial Shift?

... [Ignoring the rest of that for now.] What are those beasts? Will they continue sending them into the enclosure searching for you?

malnosso April 30 2011, 03:30:47 UTC
Shift Hunters. They are native beasts of this world, with the unique ability to detect and discern individual Shifts. But they won't be a problem for much longer! I sent them all away.

Good. We do not need them present when new arrivals show up.

Why did you choose now to do this? Have there been developments on the war front? [He is thinking specifically of the building campaign that had drawn the General's attention away from seizing the farmlands.]

That is merely only a part of it, Sir Albert. It is our own military that have forced me here. Winning the war and survival has taken precedence over reason and returning home.

I'm not interested in befores, my dear Bil; I'm interested in nows and not yets.

And rum.

I'm afraid I can help you with neither of those, save for the rum.
