I'm only gonna say this one more time...

One year to the day.  Has it been that long already?  It seems like it just happened yesterday.  That's probably because the media can't let it go.

Two words.  The Brawl.  Still doesn't seem real.  One ( Read more... )

You're right, I do disagree phigamphenom November 21 2005, 06:01:38 UTC
One, as a "professional," regardless of what you are professional at, you need to act like it. Two, you are a role model, whether you want to be or not. That's part of being famous and having the job that every little boy aspires to have. I know it sucks to have a beverage thrown at you. That's rude and uncalled for, but don't jump in the crowd and beat the fuck out of people! I don't know. A lot of people were in the wrong, especially the Detroit crowd, but I don't respect people of Artest's stature going after the crowd like that. Yes, Ben Wallace was most DEFINITELY in the wrong, but that's also his only out burst, Artest was being petty, and it should have stayed on the court. However, the fans retaliated as well -wrong- and then Artest and Jackson and O'Neal made the biggest mistake of bringing themselves down to that level and and makeing fools of themselves and perpetuating the situation for the NBA and the whole Brawl in general ( ... )

I'm not trying to change your mind, I just want to add... maloneepony November 21 2005, 06:26:56 UTC
one other thing. Did you ever notice that when Artest goes into the stands, yes he goes after the wrong guy, but he never actually punches that first guy? He pushes him down, and eyewitnesses have him saying to the dude something like "why'd you do that?" He doesn't actually punch until the guy that actually threw the cup grabs him from behind and punches him from behind. I always have a problem with the media when they recount the whole thing, and they say he just went up there and started swinging. Jackson did that, though.

I don't know. O'Neal is the one who got the shaft out of all of it. He isn't ever caught on video going into the stands. He decks someone who is on the playing surface. When that happens in football the players are cheered for nailing someone who ran on the field, they don't get suspended and charged with any crime. Why is the basketball court any different?
