spent today with other peoples kids at a farm. i had a great time, but it was pointed out that maybe i should have my own instead ;)

I would wait until the NHS sorts it's self out (gets sorted out) if I were you! But definitely a great experience, especially if you have a little room you can do up for them and a nice house to 'nest' in:/

job first, or they'll have to have a little cardboard box next to ours ;) maybe the nhs will be sorted by then - i've heard some right horror stories about maternity care in leeds...

Find a birthing centre, do the NCT classes and talk to your friends with kids. That way you know what you should get, what to do if you don't get it and who to shout at loudest when you want it changed. And remember birth is one day - it's the next 18 after that that you really need to worry about.

and yes, i've already started the "will i want to give them back when theyre school age" worries ;) i know damn well every parent wishes they'd kept the receipt at some point during the teenage years...

I think he's bright but I also think it's helped that he's been getting a lot of stimulation & attention since he was born. Being ill meant he got my undivided attention for quite a while - not something a 'normal' mother could have provided unless she could find someone else to look after everything else!
