I know it's early days but has your sister contacted any of the cancer support groups yet. I understand there are some good ones for kids etc which might help both the boys as they come to terms with stuff. I've had a look through my own information file but don't seem to have anything relevant for kids of his age but the hospital is sure to have something.

thanks for looking. my brother-in-law is dealing with this by avoidance primarily so my sister's having to do a lot herself, i'll find out what i can and then tell her rather than add it to her to-do list!

she's spoken to some people about care and schooling stuff and getting a motability car, and some wish foundation have spoken to her (which upset her cos she thought only dying kids got that sort of thing).

The wish stuff is really good. Don't let her be put off by it cos of the association with death. They do a hell of a lot that's not to do with the 'd' stuff but the media only like running articles about extreme stuff and of course like all charities they have to earn the pennies somehow. Rountable raise a lot of funds for them and it's not all about holidays for sick kids.

Sorry to hear your nephew is reacting badly to chemo. I did actually ask around the office for any old DS games, but shamefully didn't get any response at all :(

If you're in Coventry all next week, do you want to meet up for dinner or a drink? Leamington is only a 10 minute train ride away and I could come meet you if you're going to be at a loose end all week :)

thanks on all counts. and much as i would love to get away from it all, they've scheduled formal prep sessions for the evenings - we've got to do group presentations about company policy with people we've not met before on friday, in front of senior managers who'll be providing feedback for the grooming list. no pressure then :-/

one of the least offensive descriptions of the week from previous attendees is "intense"

i'm back there monday tuesday of the following week too but as its a networking thing with a free bar to encourage the two departments who've been merged to play nice, i think theyd notice if i sloped off!

'tis a good idea though and will file it in the back of my brain :)

I always knew we'd find a use for Tim if we kept him around for long enough! ;)

I hope things start picking up for him, you never know with kids they're tough little buggers.

I'm glad the pictures helped! As Carl said, I knew I'd come in handy one day!

Reactions to chemo are quite common, I got sent to A&E a couple of times! They'll adjust dosages and drugs as necessary and then it'll be back on track :)

I definatey think Cancer is much harder for friends and loved ones.

so am i, thankyou for sharing it with everyone in the first place!

i'm sure theyre trying to keep as much from him as possible as his dumbass father already had an "i can't deal with this" moment in front of the poor little sod who then promptly burst into tears because he felt guilty for being ill!!
