Well, I am going to have another crack. And I've decided the subject. It's going to be a sci fi romp/spoof, I think it will be very silly and, I hope, funny. I'll publish all of it here as I go.
I keep waking up with a heavy, wheezy chest and it is doing my fruit in. Yesterday I started a right sort-out in my bedroom and I will carry on, I'm hoping it is just a case of the room being dusty and that is what is setting it off. My sisters suffers frmo a dust allergy and asthma so maybe I'm susceptible too.
By coincidence, in the excellent book about the British Empire, 'Empire' by Niall Ferguson, I've reached the part dealing with the formation of the United States. It is interesting and, I think, unbiased

Just a brief disclaimer - my previous post does not mean I dislike Americans. not at all. One person, at least, has postulated that I do based on my gripe about the medals table. Well, I think Americans are great, but it won't stop me criticising them, just as I criticise my own country and Brits when we deserve it.
I'm sorry, but this is just pathetic. American news websites have a medal table totally different to everyone else. Their medals tables count total number of medals as the ranking criteria, rather than the internationally accepted method of the number of golds (then silvers in the event of a tie, then bronzes
