A law making it legal to kill someone on the street has just been passed in Florida. You no longer have to attempt to flee an attacker, but can simply shoot them dead. Pro-life my arse!
So if someone shoots someone else in the street, on broad daylight, claims they were assaulted by the victim, and no-one will testify to the contrary for whatever reason (like intimidation, maybe?), they're aquitted due to insufficient evidence? Lovely. They could even plant a flik-knife on their victim, just to be sure.
BTW, this is the same state where one town mandated that everyone carry heat. That's right, technically a person could be busted for NOT packin' a rod.
Fortunately, there's an entire country between me and them.
Well, Florida is Florida, but opinion polls show that things are changing over here. People are finally waking up to what the current pack of criminals has done to the country.
I look on it as "coyote-ugly" politics, a reference to those "short-term" relationships some of us have experienced (not me, of course) -- you go to a bar, get drunk, end up going home with someone you wouldn't otherwise find attractive and in the morning wake up to that person asleep on your shoulder. At that point, you're ready to chew your arm off, like a coyote caught in a leg trap, in a desperate desire to escape from your mistake.

That shocks me, but doesn't really surprise me. I'm not sure which is worse.

I guess that's one way of disarming America.
