I guess your write when you say shame can make a soldier do anything. Really everything they do has a relation to shame is this book.

maybe i'm missing something here, but what made the person burn the town in the first place? there wasnt really anything about shame before hand, but after he did all that you said that he would have shame. but then in the next paragraph you said that shame can make you "go insane as in the above instance." but the shame didnt come until after he did it. but maybe i just missing something! but ur second example makes a little more sense than your first one and i kind of think i understand what you were trying to say.

i was just saying that after doing somethign like that, which happend all the time, people go nuts from shame
