Summer Sweater

I finished this sweater tonight. It went super fast and only took up about 1 1/3 skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease. The Wool-Ease only cost $2.00 a skien so the whole project cost less than $4 to make! Since I live in good ol' Wisconsin I'm thinking about making some sleeves for it once winter rolls around.

Sorry to be a pain, but what numbers did you use for your split? My sleaves are coming out to long and to big, and the body seems like it will come out too tight. How many sets of increases did you have to do?

I didn't count the increases. I just increased until both sides could just reach in the middle to create sleeves. Have you put the entire thing on a couple pieces of yarn and tried it on yet? That should give you an idea of how it's going to fit. As for the sleeves being too big and the body being too tight..have you already put the sleeves on stich holders and continued the body? It's custom fit to YOU remember, so I'm thinking if the sleeves are too big/loose you increased too much. Only increase to the point where the two halves just touch. If after you're done the sleeves are still too loose for your taste you can always do some creative seaming to pull them tighter.

See, the thing is that the sleves are already too big and there's still a 2" gap in the middle, and by the time they do meet, the armpit will be very low. My problem is that the pattern gives you an idea of where to put the markers for the specific neckline she does, but I'm sure that I figured wrong when I did the first increases. At this point I'm not sure if I should frog back and start over with a larger # of stitches for the front and back and less for the sleaves, or if I should just keep going and figure out if its unacceptable when I get to the point where they do meet.

okay, did you convert the number of stitches she gives for the markers to fit your pattern? If you casted on 150 stitches, it would go like this: 52 stitches on the front(place marker), 23 stitches on the sleeve (place marker) 52 stitches on the back (place marker), 23 stitches on the sleeve (place marker).
