[Dean can't begin to understand what it's like to be royalty, that's something entirely different to being the Michael Sword, the vessel for the biggest, baddest archangel there ever was. He can, however, understand the grief and guilt that comes from letting down family. While he can't say how close Elizabeth was to her cousin, Mary, he can at least assume there is a familial love between them that is bone deep, with how Elizabeth is responding to such things.

When the video starts, he has a soft expression that he doesn't often use on anyone but his brother or small children, but it's there, under the bruising and cuts on his flesh, beneath the faint freckles over his nose and cheeks.]

Hey... Lizzie, how about a drink, sweetheart? [Because as much as anger and desperation and self-hatred are things Dean is well acquainted with, his best remedy has always been to drink himself stupid. Perhaps that's why he drinks so much now and it takes so much work to actually get drunk.]

[She'd never laid eyes on Mary, a daughter of Scotland had no place in England. Not even in that almost forced marriage between her brother and the other woman. But they were royalty, and that was a bond of fate that was as deep as it was between her siblings and her. In all things, they were the same, but nor is it something she can explain easily or well.

Still it's a long while before she replies to Dean, and when she does, it's flat and removed. Talking to him, but barely acknowledging him as there.] If you wish it so, my lord.

I'll be at your place in ten. [He gives her a wink, deciding that being maudlin would just make her feel worse. She needed someone to play the strong type for her, he'd done the same for Sam often enough, and he was usually the rock in any relationship he had, no matter who it was with. He played the solid, unmoveable one, keeping everyone else grounded as best as he could.

It was a little over ten minutes before he was knocking the door, and pushing it open a second after, a bottle of cheap whiskey resting in the crook of his broken right arm.] You know, you should rent this place out for parties, you'd make more money than you know what to do with. [Casual conversation was his forte, he could keep things light as much as it was needed, even when everything was horrific.]

[She's waiting for him, when he arrives. Sitting back at the table. It's still a mess, but she has fixed her hair a little. If she'd known what he was thinking, she might of been amused. Most people thought of her as that, because she only ever grieved privately.

Elizabeth snaps out of whichever place she's strayed again when she heard him speak.] Perhaps I should, palaces are meant for life, to be teeming with hundreds. Not a queen by herself.

My Lady Elizabeth. Do you wish for company? [The solemnity in Thor's voice is rare and heavy, because he understands her plight. With Loki gone, he understands it more than he cares to admit. He's had to war against someone he loves, despite never wanting to do such a thing, and their blood, their lack of it between them, has ripped him and his brother to shreds, dragged them over the hot coals, and left them broken and blinded at the end. He doesn't know if he'll ever truly fix things with Loki and he doubts his little brother will want it.

He decides it's better to only speak to her, rather than to force her to show her face. It must be agony, to finally know you are the one who will sign your loved one's death sentence, and while he fears that will be his task one day, for Loki, he does not know if he will do so with even half the grace and dignity that Elizabeth has.]

If you wish to keep it, I would be glad of it. [it almost hurts that another prince would know of this sin of her family. She tries to clear her mind, perhaps he'd understand though. She has no idea what his relationship is like with his brother.

There's a shaky breath, the silence lingers longer then perhaps she intends but everything still hurts so badly. Every muscle aches, and her dresses weigh as much as metal.] It is poor company to have. [because he had troubles of his own, and that thought moved sluggishly through her mind.]

Your company could never be poor, my friend. [He understands, he respects her, he knows that royalty such as them have poor and difficult decisions to make. His father banished him and stripped him of all his powers, leaving him to fend for himself amongst mortals. His own choice to wage war against his brother in New York was similar to that, because he knew it was for the best for everyone, even if it left him and his sibling on a poor footing.

Keeping his phone on as he headed for Elizabeth's home, he wasn't sure what to say beyond an offer to be an ear to bend or a shoulder to cry on.] Should you wish to speak on what troubles you, I will listen. Should you wish to say nothing at all, I will sit with you in silence.

[the decisions that those born to less would never know or comprehend, and she's expected to be glad for the burden by most. That in itself, is crushing. To keep appearances for her people's sake.]

There is much to say, but I can hardly find words for it. [she grinds her palms into her eyes, trying to clear her mind. Perhaps he would be best to talk to, if only for how much she wouldn't have to explain.]

Elizabeth?

[ Jane's voice is soft, and completely tossing out the formlessness at the moment. She's not much of a history buff, and only knows the English history at a passing glance. She's more worried about Elizabeth as a person right now. Jane is horrible with expressing her emotions, unless they are loud and explosive. She's not sure how to have a normal relationship, or what to say to comfort the woman who is going on a complete tirade. Eventually she clears her throat and tries again. ]

Hey... are, you okay? Can I do anything for you? [ Chocolate--something? ]

I'm not sure what can be done. Lest you know some way to rid a mind of all its present knowledge. [Elizabeth felt aged by ten years in all of a moment. Running a hand down her face, she tried to speak again, to not sound so bitter. For it was no one's place to listen to that. She wasn't supposed to let this sort of thing show. She wasn't meant to feel such things.]

Thank-you for your concern, my lady.

I have some chocolate. If you think it'll help. [ Jane gives her a smile. It's not a whole lot, but, it can make some things better. ]

You don't need to thank me for that.

Alright then. [She's... just a little lost. Decorum was so easy to hide in, and she's not completely sure what to say with out it.]

I... ah. I'm... glad to see you're well, Lady Jane. [she tried not to think about the last cousin she had called Jane. That sort of thing just wasn't need, and there was no use dwelling on, but she couldn't stop wandering how her sister had felt executing her cousin then too.] Your name is very pretty, my lady. I've known a lot of good women called Jane, who were very much beloved.

[ If there is any impression that has stayed with Desmond through his trips in re-living history? It's the fact that historical figures were real people. They had emotions. They weren't just the glorified people you'd read about in the text books. They had flaws. They hurt, and in the end, they were just... people. Seeing Elizabeth's transmission is just another reminder of that fact. Sure, she's the Queen of England. But she's a person to. Someone who has had to make the hard choices in life. Someone who has to do what is considered horrible, by some, to stabilize her country. Desmond still is a tad wary - what if she's the Elizabeth from his world? She'd use the Apple of Eden to calm a waring country and force them under a thought to improve. Sure, it was a good intention, but he's seen what those things can do to people. Even then, though, the Order needs allies. Powerful ones. ]

It sounds like you could use an ear or two, Your Majesty. I'm not sure if any god can here us here in Mandalus.

[It's a little while before she comes to answer him, because she'd honestly lost track of time, there was little enough meaning to the passing minutes. Just the sun fading from the glass, when finally she responded to him.]

Some one must. Or it's all in vain.

What happened?

As you wish, Potts.

[there's dry, bitter laughter that catches in her throat.]

I read a book. I've read many, and history books too. Did you know your name is taken from one of my titles? [she's not making much sense, but that's... probably not surprising.] Isn't legacy a funny thing...
