Ugh... Winter... just ugh

Jun 04, 2008 10:07

The past three out of four days of Winter here in Melbourne have been so thick with fog that I can literally see it hanging in the hair when I open the front door. Not just early in the morning either, it lasts until early afternoon. It started smack bang on the first day of Winter too.

WTF Melbourne? I hate you.

Same same here today - and I am hoping that it is fog and not more rain clouds...ok - great to break the drought, but enough for today - everything you touch is slightly damp.....eeewwwww...I just want a dry pair of shoes and 2 dry dogs.....

Oh I agree - please no more rain just for wee bit! A little bit of sun would be nice too!

heh heh... I hate it! But cold weather really doesn't agree with me, I get bad chilblains and my nose turns bright red while the rest of my face goes pale (so not a good look). I'm built for Summer, I'm cold blooded!

Been foggy here in Sydney too, followed but lots of rain. Blech! Bit warmer though, because before the rain came, the temp was nasty. Part of why I moved to Oz is cause I don't like the cold...and every winter I debate moving to Brissy for a few months! :D

*hands Mandy a hot cocoa* Think warm thoughts and hug a cat if you can. :D

Oh wouldn't Brisbane be wonderful right now!

*sips nummy hot cocoa*

I have a rather large dog that I can hug, but she loves sleeping in the rain and playing in the mud so I don't think that shes a good substitute!

Personally, I'm starting to think that Supanova does things backwards. They should have Sydney in the summer since it's a bit cooler here and Brisbane in the cooler months! *ponders* I may just suggest that to Daniel. :D

*lol* That's exactly why cats are a little bit better for cold/wet weather. They wouldn't deign to get themselves wet and muddy and are just as happy to hug close to the heater as you are. :D

What kind of dog is she? The water fetish makes me think Lab? :)

The Sydney/Summer, Brisbane/Winter thing sounds much more sensible, I agree!

Yep I've heard that cats make really good heaters, except I'm a tad allergic, which is a shame because they seem to love snuggling up to me! I think they sense I'm allergic - sadistic little things!

She's a long haired German shepherd and she's very big and fluffy right now with the winter fur. In summer, after shedding, she looks half the size! I don't think she can actually feel the wet through her fur or something because she seems quite happy to sit in the rain.

That's normal for Melbourne isn't it? It's actually been surprisingly fine in Adelaide at the moment. I won't be happy when winter hits though :(

Stay warm!

Oh yeah... it's normal for Melbourne - doesn't mean I hate it any less!

Every time I start thinking I actually like living in Melbourne and that the weather isn't so bad, Winter hits and it reminds me how much I hate living here.

I've shifted my moving date earlier a bit, I'm now trying to be back in Adelaide by mid-July (just before AVcon). I've started packing things!

Yay! That's awesome that you are coming over sooner ;)

Oh and hey, that white lycra is on sale at the moment at Spotlight. Are you heading to a local Spotlight store this week? It's only $9.95 a metre. I'd like to get 4 metres if it's on sale, but only 2 metres if I'm mistaken and it isn't. $9.95 is really good! Dammit, I wish they had it here :(

Oh yeah! I was going to mention about the spotlight sale! I'm definitely going there before the sale ends, probably pop in tomorrow or Friday, so I'll definitely get some for you. You're only after the white, right? Or did you want any black?

Our heater broke three days ago.

I've been such a girl about it. It's so bad!

Oh, I'd be a girl about it too! I'm so glad we've got yummy central heating here - it's lovely and warm right now.

Do you want to swap houses? I'd come visit and watch DVD's but I'd be there for the duration of winter.
