But, on the other hand, Katara trusted Zuko least, and thus she needed to be the last one to forgive/accept. Putting Boiling Rock after Southern Raiders would have made it less about Sokka-Zuko bonding and more about Sokka saving his Dad.
(Alternatively, we can interpret Katara's attitude at the beginning of Southern Raiders as at least partly jealousy ("Why didn't *I* get to go on a field trip with Zuko?").)
Maybe Ty Lee's joining the Kyoshi warriors is a sign that she's given up her need for attention all the time and accepted that it's okay to look like other girls around her because she has her own personality to make her stand out? (EVERYBODY has a crush on Zuko, duh!)
(I am STILL SAD that Avatar is over. Currently, I am forcing myself to not rewatch favorite parts of season 3 so they'll seem more new when I get the DVDs.)
See why I need to watch with other people? I think you're absolutely right about Ty Lee. I will now watch Boiling Rock again and revel in the bonding ("My first girlfriend turned into the moon." "That's rough, buddy." OMG! AVATAR!)
You have so much more restraint than I do. I just keep watching and rewatching (and pausing and replaying). I didn't even order the Book 3 DVDs until yesterday because I kept waiting for "*yawn* Bored now. Where's the shiny?" to kick in from overexposure.
Question 8: Any clue on why Ozai went from Ember Island Dad to Evil Overlord of Plottingtude and Crazy? I feel like there's a big storytelling hole there. (Secretly, you're impressed that I am devoting an entire section of my brain to remembering the question numbers.)
We see Zuko's shadowed memories of summers at the beach. Of course, it could just be Zuko misreading his father's character...or having Azula drove Dad crazy 'cause she's a monster. If there were more time between Lu Ten's death and Dad going all plotty evil, I would think that his nephew's death inspired Dark Thoughts of Power in Ozai, now that he was only one heir from the throne.
I think Iroh would have chosen to go with Zuko regardless (Uncle loves Zuko!). In the canonically-enhanced version of Avatar that I watch in my head, I believe Iroh was sent away by Ozai because he's the one who let Zuko in the meeting and therefore bears a smidge of the "disgrace" himself.

Personally, I'd prefer to scrap Southern Raiders altogether (with the exception of Sokka/Suki rendez-vousing), and then it wouldn't matter what order it was told in. :9 I'll post more about my feelings for the episode later, but if they'd saved her "forgiveness" for something more epic, like.. say... when he saves her from Azula's lightening, it would have been infinitely more satisfying to me and a lot less cliche (if one can say that about a scene that was already cliche). At the least, it would have made Katara's takedown of Azula awesome to me, whereas the way it stands now is that I feel like she stole Zuko's thunder. (no almost-pun intended.)
I just stop watching after the gang critiques Sokka's painting
YES. As you will read later, either by response or by post, I can't entirely get behind Katara+Aang in the manner they tell it, so to me that final scene is weird and squicky and won't exist the next time I watch the ending. I have already made up an alternative scene in my mind.
I can't decide if Ty Lee is crushed on Zuko or

Yes, you will definitely need to tell us how you feel about the various ships. (Even if it's just to agree or disagree with some comment that you can finally read--I guess you have a LOT of reading to catch up on...)
I was actually wondering if you were a Kataang shipper for a while there...Not that we would have kicked you out of the unibrain for that ...maybe

The Southern Raiders is a very important episode in my Zutaran universe. You may scrap it for [whatever reasons you are going to post about (soon, please)], but then you have to preserve Zuko saving Katara from falling rocks and telling Sokka that her opinion of him matters, plus Katara hugging him.
